David Bond: What made you think you would get more HD channels? There have been no recent announcement of any new HD channels launching on Freeview. To answer why you have lost BBC Four HD we need to know which transmitter you're using and where you are in relation to it (please provide a full postcode so that we can access your coverage prediction).

You may find that your Freeview DVR has a setting in the 'Settings' menu to extend the record time beyond the posted time that the programme finishes. This is usually tens of second or up to two or three minutes and is there for just such occassions when programmes overrun slightly. You may also want to check the digital clock on the DVR (if it has one) as that can sometimes affect the start stop times, if the clock is fast it will start recording early and finish early.

Thanks Gordon for the info, but if I extend the time it sets it as a timed recording, rather than starting and ending when the programme ends, so if programmes are delayed or moved for any reason it won't then adjust the recording schedule automatically. The clock is accurate, it is displayed on front when dvr is off. Itv hd is worst for missing ends of programmes, most other channels seem to mostly accurately detect ends of programmes correctly.

We NEVER had any reception problems previously. Since the Freeview updates last week we can't view HD channels 106-115, Vintage 82, the new Freeview Channels and others maybe. Not only here, but also my Mum's and Sister's and neighbours all at different addresses covered by the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. I've exhausted all the retune options several times over. Usually pull in 147 channels, very occasional 155 or 173 channels... across nine TV sets we've tried without success.Signal strength between 95 and 100% on all other channels with 100% quality. If the above channels do actually pull into the guide, the screen is either blank or pixelated. I rang Freeview and emailed twice... NO RESPONSE... they indicate 'no service issues' yet it seems many people are having same problem without them taking any notice? What's happening?

Whoops I forgot to add postcode of B92 0DT x 2 = 1 aerial on roof, 1 aerial in loft and B37 7DE aerial in loft and to stress no issue prior to last week's retuning..

I like the above comment re:- adverts, but I go one better, (but I have time on my hands) is to record on a hard drive ALL ITV and those on the digital channels which carry adverts, and then spend a little time editing out the adverts, so you have a complete programme,..
Eg. I am watching a rerun of " the bill" on earlier in the day I set the recorder on a series link to record each day, I then edit in the afternoon, and the missus and me watch it later, an hours programme actually edits to 44minutes., No edverts,..!
