Grumpyoldman: I really don't think it would make much difference if Terry did try moving his aerial, as the Litchfield transmitter is only approx 4 miles away to the North East of Sutton Coldfield, this only requiring his aerial to have a "very" minor nudge to the right of where presently positioned.
Or put another way, for normal purposes if Litchfield was transmitting on a bit higher power, both it and Sutton could be picked up on just about the same angle from Terry's location.

I get Freeview from Sutton Coldfield and have a digital recorder. I will be away from home from 5th to 9th Sept and want to what effect the frequency changes on 7th Sept will have on any timer recordings I may want to set.

Charles: Mux1 will be replaced by Mux BBCA on a different frequency (C43) and MuxA will change frequency (to C41+ which Mux1 will have vacated.) This will occur in the early hours of 7th September 2011. Unless your Freeview recorder automatically re-tunes at switchover, it will therefore be a waste of time setting timer recordings for Mux1 or MuxA channels after 6th September. Note too that all muxes might be off the air prior to 6am on 7th September.

terry: At that postcode, the two transmitters are pretty much bang in line.
Does the TV actually have the Freeview HD logo on it, the packaging or the manual? Does the manual list DVB-T2 alongside DVB-T in the specifications? If not, it's probably only "HD Ready". See What does "Full HD Ready" actually mean? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for the difference.
