The symbol shows the location of the Waltham (Leicestershire, England) transmitter which serves 770,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Hi,

Could somebody please confirm if PSB2 (578Mhz) on the Waltham transmitter has switched from broadcasting in the DVB-T signal type to DVB-T2 in the last few weeks?

It's the only thing that explains the symptoms I'm currently experiencing with receiving freeview reception on a PC containing a pair of older DVB-T format PCI-E cards, versus another PC containing a DVB-T2 format card that can pick up the channels in the group (ITVs, Channel 4 etc). This card can receive that channel group, but running scans against that frequency using the older cards returns no channels.

Thanks, Alan

Alan: PSB2 has definitely NOT been switched to DVB-T2 on any transmitter. That would be a major change which would make numerous commercial channels unavailable on a few million older TVs. Are all the cards being connected to the same aerial? What signal strength and quality readings do you get for PSB2 on each card? Do the DVB-T cards have any issues receiving PSB1 or COM4/5/6?

@StevensOnln1

Turned out to be my 4-way f-type signal splitter! :-D
Removed from the signal path to the tv cards and all is fine :-)
Why it should fail now and then only let certain frequencies through???? :-S
COM5 (602MHz) wasn't getting through either!

Only a guess, but could be the first hint of BBC1 HD becoming regionalised on the terrestrial platform
so if you can't receive HD channels on Freeview. you need a new Freeview box, PVR or TV.
It was said that the upgrading would be before April.

Mike Davison: Nobody needs to replace any equipment for Freeview. BBC One HD is becoming fully regionalised across England, but the existing SD regions will all remain, no closures have been announced for Freeview (perhaps you are thinking of satellite where BBC SD channels will close early next year following the full rollout of HD regions over the last couple of months).

A lot of people are expecting some of the regions to get the HD update on the 22nd.
It's anticipated that the South - S & SE, SW, W, and E England may not be complete until the next week.
