I'm very impressed with all the effort Briantist must put in to supply all this information(which has been helpful more than once)and I should like to express my appreciation.
Looking forward to retuning next May!
I have to tune manually to Waltham transmitter otherwise I get problems with Syutton Coldfield competing.

Briantist - my problems are local to the extent that all the local antenna installers know there's an issue with Waltham for NW Leicester/Leics and has been since the last week of October. I know this as I asked them ;-)
The BBC also know about the problem - they've had enough complaints from people in this area. They were in fact the people who said "point the aerial at Sutton Coldfield" as Waltham has ongoing work.
I had zero problems until the engineering works. ZERO. The last 7 weeks have been appalling.
16 minutes? Heh pull the other one, power meter connected directly to aerial tells a different story entirely.
Anyway keep up the good work, this is a useful site for people with problems.

Calgacas: Generally speaking the "Possible weak signal" description in engineering information means that there will be people working on the mast at some point.
It is necessary to turn the power levels down because of "air work". However, this is a very strange time of year for such work to be done.
Such work can only be undertaken during daylight and favourable weather conditions. For this reason the power levels are reduced only for the time it takes such work to be done.
At all other times the signal levels are at their contractual level.
It is very likely that your difficulties have a different source and unconnected to the engineering work. Given that the changes to the transmitter are generally speaking programmable it not likely that works that would reduce the signal for you on a long-term basis are being done.

Hi jb38, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. We have purchased the Konig booster and fitted it and all TV's are now working after a lot of fine tuning, which the other booster didn't allow. Thanks for the link, it was a really good price and they were very helpful. We are experiencing a little interferance occaisionally still, but have not lost the pictures completely, so I presume it's because of the ongoing work at Waltham, but once again Thank you so much for your help, it has certainly saved us the expense of a aerial engineer. Sam: Many thanks for your update on the situation as I always appreciate being informed regarding the outcome of anything suggested, likewise I am pleased to learn that you have achieved a reasonable level of success using the Konig booster, and especially so when taking into account the fact that the engineering work being carried out at the Waltham transmitting station remains with a status of on-going, and something which is unfortunately responsible for the problems experienced by quite a number of disgruntled viewers within the stations service area.

Well, I live 12 miles away from the Waltham mast, we can see it on the skyline, whilst TVs are OK (fingers crossed!) the HDD Blu-Ray player has lost all channels due to 'Weak or No signal' and no amount of retuning will bring them back. Am loath to take player in for repair (only 10 months old) as I'm sure they will tell me there's no problem. Reading everyone elses posts has given me some small comfort, so thanks for that, a very useful site and I'll be passing it onto my friends and neighbours suffering similar problems.

Chattes: Although Freeview reception from Waltham has been, and still is, a bit iffy at times over the past few weeks what you have reported could suggest that some other factor is coming into the equation, this making me wonder what method you are using to feed the signal from the aerial into your Blue-Ray player as well as your TV's? as a low boost powered splitter should really be used.
Maybe you could give an update as far this is concerned.

I am reading these posts with interest. My neighbours and I have all lost signal from Waltham over the last few weeks and it is frankly beyond a joke. I live in PE10.
There are so many people complaining about it that it can't be localised issues. Come on tranmitter people. Sort it out.
Any ideas when the engineering work is going to be complete?

Incidentally, I used the BBC's online complaints form and received an e-mail back telling that Waltham was working normally. Beggars belief really.
