DarrenG: It is important to scan for channels when Waltham is on full power. Belmont, though further away, transmits with 150kW compared to Waltham's 50kW. WMC always scans all channels: there is no way to limit it to Waltham's frequencies. At present, Waltham is subject to effectively random power reductions so this can be difficult.

Check your detailed channel sources. PSB2 from Waltham is on 737.833, from Belmont on 506. For channels 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14, 28 and 33 you should have 4 sources only selected on 737.833 with quality 100%.

Sometimes, there are also issues with PSB1 - Waltham 698, Belmont 482 - and PSB3 - Waltham 770, Belmont 530. These are usually just duplicated channels with the second version tuned to Belmont's frequency.

Any problems are minimal if Waltham is on full power when the scan is performed.

I think the Video items you mentioned earlier indicate the tuner in use for the channel.

Dave Lindsay: Thankyou for your advice. You were absolutely correct, BBC1 on TV channel 1 is indeed tuned into Channel 43 which is operating on low power (unlike the other BBC channels which are all tuned into Channel 49 and are therefore OK since this channel is operating on a much higher power). I have also now found BBC1 on TV channel 800 which is tuned into channel 49 and is therefore, not surprisingly, OK.

David Shaw: There are few possibilities:

You may be able to wipe what's already stored, for example by running the scan through with the aerial unplugged. Then manually tune the five SD muxes (and one HD mux, if applicable).

Or you may be able to have the aerial lead unplugged during scanning of Sutton Coldfield's channels. The scan runs channels 21 to 69, so if yours only gives a percentage progresss you can estimate the channels.

Same issues as many other
TV is fine however
With our windows 7 media centre channel 5 virtually always black screen with no sound ITV intermittently black screen
This is not a pc issue or TV card issue
However when retuning the media station it does say downloading the TV data for your region , before scanning so is it that Microsoft have not yet updated something ?

Dominic P:
I have occasionally 'picked up' Belmont. I always check the frequencies MCE is using against what is on this webpage!

I also DO limit the MCE scan, or at least the frequencies used. At least it seems to work. The other day I scanned and it picked up some Belmont frequencues. I then immediately applied my registry update and only picked up Waltham frequencies. The channels were all at 100%.

Here is a link to the 'video' options:

This appears ONLY on PSB2.

It is not the tuner in use:

I wondered about that too. I have been unable to find out what the 'TV data for your region' actually is.

However, I reimaged my PC back to a known working configuration and the issue was there immediately, withoug any retuning. So, it probably isn't that sadly.

Im having the exact same problem with Windows 8 Media centre and has been happening since the 4g retune. Its mainly itv1 channel 5 and itv1 +1 which is affected but looks like all channels bar channel 4 are affected to some degree on that mux. Same problem with just a black screen with no audio, not even a no signal screen, also I have noticed the time bar runs quicker than it should and I also have the Video tab in options?? Ive tried different drivers and also reimaged back 2 months to fix the problem but its still there. I have 5 tuners 2 external usb2 tuners 1 dual nova 500 and 1 internal freesat tuner for hd. The only thing I can conclude is the signal is different.

Steve H:

Bloody irritating, isn't it!?

I hate not being able to solve problems.

I started to look at the discussions for other larger transmitters and, at first glance at least, couldn't see similar problems being discussed. Is it just Waltham users?

Also, Dominic P has the same tuners as me and he is OK (hence why I wanted to confirm if he was tuned to Waltham).

Steve H:

Oh, one other thing. I took a PDF copy of the Waltham info on this website when I built the PC back in Sept 2012. Comparing the info for PSB2 to now shows no change.

If there is a change then it is affecting a lot of different types of PC tuners.

So, like you I find it hard to believe that it is ALL our PCs that at fault.
