Which companies have run the Channel 3 services in the Winter Hill transmitter area
My (Wigan-based) indoor aerial used on a pc gives excellent results - except for certain channels, i.e., Yesterday, Russia Today and Film4 to name but three contained in C55 (746,0 MHz) and whose power output is shown on this page as 'very low'. I have recently been told by Arqiva that all six muxes are being transmitted from WH at their full and final powers. But I see on this very helpful page that Winter Hill Arqiva B will operate at 12.5kW until 2011. Does this mean that it will be reduced further and will get even worse for my little aerial to drag in? Reception of these channels is variable - ranging from rotten to awful - freezing, blocking and stuttering being the name of the game. Can you tell me what is due to happen? Many thanks.

Briantist: Thanks for the warning about the Winter Hill Arqiva B date this year. But after that time does it mean that the mux will either shut down or output will plummet further? Getting a rooftop aerial for pc use, to me, is a last resort and I may need to forget about this approach. Why are some of those channels with the 'channel four' category so relegated?? Kind regards.

Useless Grants Tower repeater, come on you hopeless private enterprise grabbers how about providing us with some service. Fifth time in less than a week no tv. Even when we get a signal, only 14 channels instead of 40. Several times this week only bbc channels and nothing else, and/or quality so poor as to be unwatchable. Nothing wrong with our tv or antenna, the problem is YOU! Surely the worst service in the entire winter hill area, if not the whole of northern england, the GRANTS TOWER REPEATER, will you at least tell us what your problem is?
