Hi my address is BD17 5SJ. I have a new wamsung LED tv with freeview HD. However I cannot get any hi channels. Is this because The Wrose transmittowr which our tv Ariel uses does not support thes HD Channels.

Hi we live at 797 Leeds Road Idle Bradford BD108UJ and are having repeated pixelation and signal lose which lasts about 10 seconds several times a week, the mast is located on the apex of the roof externally pointing to the Idle transmitter and has a mast head amplifier and a really good new 4 cannel booster in the loft which supplies power for the mast head amplifier and feeds the signal to 4 rooms although only 1 or 2 TV's are on at any one time, we mainly watch standard definition but have tried HD but find the signal fails or cannot be received so revert back the SD, each TV also has a small booster, we recently bought a new Humax Smart box which enables up to four channels to be recorded at the same time but have found the problem is worse when three or four channels are set for recording, I have checked the signal strength on the Humax when the signal is lost and it shows 98/100% strength and 100% quality so I am at a lose as to the cause, any help will be appreciated thank you Mike

Michael Swift: If you are seeing close to 100% signal strength then you are probably suffering from the effects of having too much signal, which is effectively deafening the tuner so it can no longer decode the signal. The Idle transmitter is only 1km away and you appear to be amplifying the signal several times, so I would start by removing the boosters behind each TV as they are probably completely unnecessary anyway. Did an aerial installer recommend fitting the mast head amplifier, as that plus the distribution amplifier in the loft may still too much amplification?

I agree with what StevensOnln1 has said and his approach to investigating this, but do check that the aerial is pointing the right way - bearing 189 degrees (rods vertical) that's 9 degrees W of due S. Also that the down lead is secure and not flapping in the wind.
It's slightly baffling that the quality is showing as 100% as one would expect it to decrease with overload, but nevertheless remove these small boosters to start with and see what happens to the strength and quality figures.
In addition, make sure you don't have any HDMI cables close to any aerial leads and flyleads, especially if the aerial leads and flyleads are not high quality double screened types. HDMI has been known to cause interference which could produce the effects you are seeing.
If the 4 channel splitter/booster also supplies power to the masthead amp, then it'll be almost impossible to take it out of circuit for tests. I don't suppose it has a variable gain control that you can turn down?
If removal of the set back boosters still leaves the signal the same, then it might be worth trying a variable attenuator at the set back so you can reduce the signal.

Hi
About 3 months ago, a mast was erected on Leeds and Bradford road Idle (outside The George pub) which I presume is a 5G. Lots of others are appearing all over the area as well.
At first, Freeview reception was shady and now it is none existent at certain times of the day.
The degradation of signal is truly remarkable and beggars belief. Even the BBC services are unobtainable at certain times and no ITV/Channel4/Channel 5 at all.
Previously and prior to the 5G install, we could receive usually 136 TV/Radio channels. Now we are lucky to get 50 and sometimes none.
I know it is not an aerial issue as I used to install them. We retune the TVs in the house every day so no 'update' issues either.
A few days ago , we retuned to 136 channels again briefly (it lasted 2 days). I guess it was because the 5G mast was undergoing maintenance.

Please provide a full postcode and which direction your aerial is pointing so that we can look at the predicted reception in your locale. Are the aerial rods (or squashed Xs) horizontal or vertical? Roughly how old is the aerial and downlead?
