Clare McNeil :

Hi Clare. It's either the engineering work and signals are reduced power and you aren't getting them at the time you tried to retune, or there's a fault on the aerial system - check it's still pointing correctly and the coax plugs are plugged in ok etc.
Whatever you do, don't try and retune the other channels, it may clear the tuning and you'll lose more channels. What is the reception like on the other channels, is it ok or pixellated?

There is another possibility and that is interference from a new/upgraded phone mast. if your father's postcode is the one ending7EP them they should have received a postcard from Restore TV about this possibility. That location is surrounded by phone masts and upgrades are taking place to use the 700MHz spectrum that was sold to mobile operators.

If you put your father's full postcode in here -
https://restoretv.uk/post…ure/
then it will most likely say yes.

Try it and tell me the outcome and what reception of the other channels is like.
BTW, a new TV (mentioned in a previous post) will not help the situation. The only benefit is a new one would get HD channels if this one doesn't (subject to getting the signal!) and it'll be "Smart" - connect to the internet, you'd need a reasonable broadband connection.

Hi Chris SE
Thank you for your help. What I can gather from my
dad he is still missing all BBC Channels. He says this
problem has been happening often. I will talk to him
about checking out our post code. He is talking about
getting an engineer out. I will try phoning the Restore
TV. At moment we are having engineering work
on going for maybe for a week. As I write this all other
channels are fine. I will keep you updated if I have
any news. Hopefully once the engineering is done
we can get back to full service. Once again thank you for
all your help, most appreciated. Had no idea about
Restore TV

Hi Chris SE, I think I have done it. I managed to manually
re-tune all BBC Channels one by one. My dad says
thank you and is so happy. I wouldn't have been able
to do any of that without your help. So thank you so
much. We still have an engineering sign in our area
but no auto re-tuning this time.

Clare McNeil :

I'm glad you've got the channels back. I would still phone Restore TV and ask for the Free Filter. It should be fitted between the aerial and any splitter if the aerial feeds more than one TV.

If your father perchance has an aerial amplifier on the aerial pole, you should tell Restore TV and they should arrange for an engineer to come FREE of charge to fit an external filter to the mast. We have heard of some cases where they've replaced the aerial as well!

Hi Chris SE, I will pass on your information to my dad.
Even though we have BBC Channels back, contacting
Restore TV, would be beneficial, they sound like a very good
like a good company. Thanks again for your time and help.

They are funded under OFCOM's mandatory regulations by the Mobile Operators to sort out these problems. It was a condition of their licences.

Every morning I am receiving a "no signal"message for Channel 34, 578000MHz, which carries Sky News. The signal returns mid-afternoon, all other channels are unaffected. This is affecting all the receivers in the house which suggests it is not a hardware problem. I am in Lancing, approximately 10 miles west of the transmitter. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

Mike Howard:

Even though the transmitter isn't on the current list (we know that the lists aren't always 100% accurate), my suspicion is that work is still continuing as per the post post just before yours.

Check on one (or more) of your TV's Tuning sections for the Signal Strength and Quality figures for each multiplex's UHF channel and post the figures for each when C34 has no signal and when it is "normal".

The other check you could do, is see if your immediate neighbours are experiencing the same issue.
