Hi.

Performed re-tune to move C26 to C29 (MuxA) as planned on 30th March. All ok, but when searched for D3&4 on C31, no channels found.

Subsiquent re-tunes have not identified any channels on C31. Is this due to come on line on 13th April with the next re-tune, or is there just a delay in D3&4 appearing from Waltham (Above notes say D3&4 would appear towards the end of March this year, ie with the last re-tune).

Thank you. Regards,

Tim.

timonthenet: This is the 'phony war', not the real switchover yet.

At Waltham, the only change *so far* has been the move of Mux A from C26 to C29. Mux 2 remains on C23 for the next 10 days.

On the 13th, Mux 2 moves from C23 to C31. This is still low power and not the 'proper' switchover.

The 'proper' switchover starts on the 17th of August, when BBC Two analogue switches off, and Mux 1 moves to C61. ITV1 analogue will temporarily move to C64, meaning if you select channel 3 on an analogue TV you will get nothing, and if you select channel 2 you get ITV1.

Two weeks later, on 31 August, the remaining analogue channels turn off. Mux 2 moves to C54 (as D3&4). Mux B is turned off. Mux C moves to C56 and changes mode (as ArqA). Mux D moves to C57 and changes mode (as ArqB). HD services start on C58.

In October, Mux A changes mode (to become SDN), which will probably require a retune, although it will stay on the same channel.

I realise these early retunes are confusing, but they're happening to ensure that you don't lose services when The Wrekin goes high power - BBC on Wednesday, the other channels two weeks later on the 20th.

Oh, and unless they sort out the frequency allocation before August, the BBC multiplex will have to move again some time in 2012 to free up C61 for 4G mobile phones.

I successfully returned my Phillips set top box on 30th March however, every day I get a message "an update has been received for this channel", when I press ok BBC channels disappear and I have to retune again. I have a loft aerial pointed at Waltham and the signal is strong enough to run two TV's using an amplifier. Can anyone help please?

Briantist, thank you for clarifying Waltham vs. Nottingham signal source. When Nottingham switches on 13-April, does the power ramp up on that day? Just wondering whether to try receiving DTV from there instead of Waltham. Nottingham's analogue signal is too weak for me hence I pointed aerial to Waltham (strong analogue and reasonable DTV).

blackfish: The BBC A multiplex at Nottingham is already at full power. D3&4 and HD services will start up at full power next Wednesday. The commercial multiplexes stay on low power until 28 September.

If you couldn't get Nottingham's analogue signals with reasonable quality, digital is likely to be erratic. I'd stick with Waltham.

A full postcode would allow us to give more information.

@ John, I too have a Philips set top box with the same problem. BBC channels begin dissapearing one by one over a short period of time after retuning from factory settings. All other channels work fine.
