Zak: Can you hang on until 26th September 2012, when you will get a full-strength service from the Bilsdale transmitter?

Zak: Is the aerial optimized for Idle? It should be oriented with the elements running up-and-down, not side-to-side, and pointing north-east.

The prediction at the moment is poor, because the low-power services from Bilsdale use the same frequencies as Idle (the three PSB multiplexes and the SDN mux), and the two transmitters are in very nearly the same direction for you.

Thanks for replies.

The aerial is optimised for Bilsdale right now (horizontal) as this gives much better signal then Idle but still not great. You're right both transmitters are pretty much in the same direction.

What about Bradford West transmitter? This is also in the same direction. Am I out of range for given that it serves a local area i guess?

As feared I guess I've got to stick it out and wait until SEPT2012 to tke advantage of FreeviewHD which is built-in into my Panny plasma.

Zak: Yes, you will have to wait until 26 September 2012 for Freeview HD.

However, if you want those HD channels today, you could add a FreeSAT HD dish and receiver to your set.

Hi, I have just purchased a Telecam indoor tv aerial TC2000. I only seem to be getting a very weak signal when tuning my tv to this aerial (ie 1 out of 10). It is very hit and miss and there is frequent pixillation.
I am hoping to use this on a portable TV on holiday in Saundersfoot Wales.
Do you think this will be ok for a good stable picture or are there better indoor aerials available?
We are going on 7th June so would appreciate any advise you could give.

Thanks

Richard gough : Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? You're just 2km from the Idle transmitter so it's possible that you are suffering with signal overload (search for the article "too much of a good thing" on this website).

According to Freeview we should have 76 TV channels at BD17 7LB but can currently only get 37 ? I have had an aerial engineer out and he says our aerial signal is good and we are getting all channels available. Can you please explain why we have lost half our channels ? Many thanks

Fiona Stanley: There have been no changes at either the Idle or Emley Moor transmitters. I would suggest you get the engineer back and get them to do their job properly.
