Just read that if you have a amplifier fitted it might wreck your signal (see post above), is this true ? My area is Stoke on Trent (Longton) ST3 5LA.

Casey Finney: Without knowing exactly what posting you are referring to but with you being located at about 2 miles away from Fentons 2Kw (on PSB channels) transmitter then I cant see an amplifier of any type coming into the equation.
To put it simply, if the signal level entering a tuner is above the level that the tuner is designed to operate on then its input circuitry will be overloaded and causing elements instability to occur, this resulting in symptoms being seen that are almost identical to that from the opposite type of problem, that of a weak signal including the complete blocking of reception, sometimes this being of an intermittent nature if the signal is just slightly too high.
Its these similarities in symptoms seen that can mislead the unwary.

IAN MALKIN: There are no plans at present to transmit Radio Stoke on either Freeview or satellite. With the emphasis on saving money the only expected change to BBC local radio in general is the phasing out of analogue transmissions and improved coverage of DAB, which is being forced on the BBC in order to facilitate the proposed analogue switch off for all BBC and principal commercial radio stations.

Ros Coulborn :
Your signal quality must be marginal as you are having issues during the night.
you need to provide more info for help.
1. how many rooms running off aerial
2. aerial location
3. aerial age
4. cable age
5. professionally fitted or diy
regards
