John Boyce: The link you have provided is to the Danish edition of the model, which as you say, has a DVB-T2 tuner in it.

As you have a Danish model, have you set the country/nation to "UK" (or, incorrectly, "GB")?

As an aside, the UK edition does not have a DVB-T2 tuner in it:

Really? I do actually have a UK model, and it states clearly on the packing box built in HD tuner? If it doesn't have this then it will go back to Currys..

John Boyce: It states either "Freeview HD" and/or "DVB-T2" then?

Evidently the box is incorrect. The specs on page 183 of the manual also quote only DVB-T.

I think the literature is very misleading and I'l take it up with Currys on Saturday. If you see below, this is an HD TV with built in freeview. You are right, it does not specifically say Freeview HD, but in my opionion it implies it, and the guy in the shop fell into the same trap as me and told me it was HD freeview!
The box is in multi langauage and the Fench one states Tuner TNT HD integre, which means integral HD TNT tuner. In English it omits the HD part...
Many thanks for your help with this.

The Samsung LT23B550 Full HD 23" LED TV Monitor has a sleek and stylish design, combining monitor and TV capabilities.

This television is also equipped with a Freeview tuner so there are plenty of TV channels to choose from. There's even an Electronic Programme Guide so you have all the channel information you need!

John Boyce: There are terms which I'm sure catch people out and is why there are so many people who think that they have a device that can receive HD broadcasts in the UK when they can't.

These are:

- HD Ready - means that there is no HD tuner in-built, but that it is "ready" to show HD pictures with a separate source (set-top box).

- Full HD - means that it shows HD pictures to the maximum ("fullest") resolution of 1080p. It doesn't necessarily mean that the set can receive HD signals.

Clearly "HD Ready" will have caught a lot of people out before switchover when they assumed that it meant that their purchase is "ready" to receive HD when it comes on air.

It is, of course a "HD Freeview TV", but this doesn't mean that it can receive Freeview HD. With hindsight it is clear to see that there is obvious room for misunderstanding.

The device will receive HD broadcasts in France because they use the DVB-T standard for them.

OK Dave, the gloves are off! I'm ready for Currys. The assistant was a very young lad who clearly did not understand all this.
many thanks again, great service!

John Boyce: I assume you mean this TV from the Currys website? Buy SAMSUNG LT27B550 Full HD 27" LED TV Monitor | Free Delivery | Currys

If you use the dropdown boxes on the left, you can select "by tuner type" Freeview HD - you'll see there are no Samsungs with Freeview HD under 32" (only a dozen from other manufacturers).

DVB-T2 TVs will have the FreeviewHD logo on the packaging or display as well.

Bad signal on Ch61 BBC1 and BBC2 - from about 5pm (could have been earlier) on Tuesday 22nd Jan. Receiving near Devizes with high gain aerial (never had a problem before!). No reported faults. Perhaps snow related?
