David Curtis: I can ask you the same question in reverse: Why should you be receiving four (five if it's HD) muxes with excellent signal quality?

As I said, you do not have line-of-sight due to the high ground on which Crowborough sits being in the way. There is also potentially another obstruction at 7.5 miles:

Terrain between ( m a.g.l.) and (antenna m a.g.l.) - Optimising UK DTT Freeview and Radio aerial location

Signals travel in straight lines. Because you don't have line-of-sight you are relying on diffraction which is the signals bending around the obstruction. Different frequencies bend differently so as a consequence in non-line-of-sight situations it can be found that all signals aren't received at the same level. Indeed in some places one or more signals may be good and others apparently non-existant. The objective is to site the aerial where they are all good.

I should also add that there are also a lot of trees in the way. So "if" it isn't the defraction issue then it could be refraction caused by the trees, such objects often affecting one or two frequencies whilst allowing others through seemingly unscathed.

Hi, im wondering if someone can help.

We have 3 tvs, two have integrated freeview the other used an HDR-fox T2. All have been working seamlessly.

Yesterday we have a massive thunder clap overhead and since we have had really intermittent quality. the tv upstairs has a few freeview channels and is missing 1-5.

The aerial is in the loft.

Is this just a transmitter at reigate issue and will eventually sort out or something else.

Ive also reset all freeview as suggested.

thanks
steve

My mother lives in Woodhatch, RH27NP, it is a care home. She/they are unable to get BBC1,2 and many other channels on her freeview TV. Also on many channels on her DAB radio, is there a problem.

Mr D Stapleton: If you are using a "common aerial" for the TV then you will need to take it up the matter with the building management.

I live in crawley and get my tv transmission from Reigate transmitter and receive a good strong signal. I am curious as to why the new HD channels coming at the beginning of 2014 are available from only the crystal palace transmitter and not the Reigate relay. I spoke to a CAI approved aerial installer and they said there should be no reason why not as it has enough capacity. Will it happen at any time?

I rescanned my freeview channels on my Panasonic PVR. They were all Quality = 10 except Ch26/27 (Film4 etc) which was Quality = 2. Is there a problem with this channel?

JCS Jackson: Most probably never (or not before the current com7 licence period ends, I think in 2019?).

Also, putting your phone number on the internet is not a good idea...

Despite receiving my signal from the Reigate transmitter in Crawley I managed to manually tune in my TV's to get the additional HD channels broadcast on COM 7 (channel 33 @ 570Mhz). The thing to keep in mind tough is that for me the signal strength goes up and down between 74% and 85% quite a bit where as all Reigate frequencies are 100% all the time.
As I distribute my TV signal downstairs to my TV and to 2 x dual TV tuners for my media center PC I needed to get a TV booster that distributes the signal as using a 3 x splitter was affecting the HD signal strength only interestingly.
Worth keeping mind though that sometimes I do get a broken signal but I would say 90% of the time it is fine for broadcasts on the COM7. It is not perfect but I more than content with it!
