Bob F: Further to what Michael said, it is always wise to check that an 'HD' TV does have an HD tuner - they all should do in this day and age, but (amazingly) Toshiba contines to make a 2013 model without one.

I've recently found out from the internet that the Cheddar self-help relay is no longer in use, and Cheddar is served by Stockland Hill, thereby giving it the south west regional news (BBC Spotlight) rather than the more appropriate west regional news (BBC Points West). If the Cheddar relay served 1674 homes, why was it a self-help relay in the first place? Surely a relay serving 1674 homes should have been an official one; many official ones were built around the UK to serve around 1000 homes, or even less.

Transmitter engineering: We are served by Mendip transmitter. All four freeview channels have lost signal with only occasional picture and sound. I am connected via aerial. All other channels are fine. Re-searching does not resolve. Tested again 0940 Friday 13th 2013, and problem persistes.

Hi Andy
We have found over the last couple of months customers in fringe locations like parts of upper weston bath etc experiencing intermittent problems with ch49 and 54, after extensive monitoring where by muxes as well as signal strength are giving erratic readings we are pretty convinced its down to transmitter problems and advised customers to hang on and wait.
Worth taking note if doing new installs in these locations as you could end up barking up the wrong tree if you get my meaning.
regards

Dave: Thank you very much I had a funny feeling that this may be the case as it is very rare to have a lot of people with exactly the same fault! (although it does happen!)
Thank you for the reply

We have lost all signal of tv since they started working on the transmitter. Even with a signal booster no joy. It was fine before that. Had to buy a sat box instead.

I just don't have reliable Freeview service from the Mendip transmitter. Constant break up, frequent loss of channels and even more than one multiplex totally dead.

Does anyone know when these disruptive works will be finished. It is really annoying that I had to buy a sat box just to view tv when I pay loeads of money for BTVision. Should I ask for rebate on lake of service?
