VP COMS 7 & 8
Digital uk has recently investigate for me wether or not coms 7 & 8 will be on both HP and VP
They have confirmed that they will be solely transmitter on HP at the time of launch using 25kw power (not very good lol)
With this low strength transmission it will only reach upto 70% of properties currently using Rowridge
I would stick with VP and sacrifice the change of receiving these extra coms as VP is far superior to the HP reception.

Hello. My postcode is BH6 4AE and my aerial is on my flat roof. This past week I have had freeview reception only 3 days out of seven and it is very frustrating! I keep retuning and searching for channels and nothing is being found. I have been told reception is generally bad in this area. I have been here 4 years and it has never been this intermittent. Hi Linda:
If the TV picture was good before the wind then It sound like the wind has moved the aerial.
I can come out to you free of charge and have a look for you to see what the problem is.
If you would like this to happen please contact me through my website or on Check A trade under UFO Aerials.
Kind regards,
John

Does anyone in Southampton use Freeview HD? BBC One HD is on Freeview 101 and BBC Two HD is on Freeview 102 but I'm not picking them up. I've tried retuning our TV (which is "fully HD") using 'autoscan channels' in the settings menu, but it's not downloading any of the Freeview HD channels. According to the Freeview website, the HD channels *should* be available in my postcode. I phoned the Freeview helpline last week and they said there is currently engineering work going on at our local area's transmitter - Rowridge (Isle of Wight). That *could* be the problem. However, I've tried retuning the TV several times in the past couple of months and have *never* been able to access the HD channels. Does my antenna orientation need to be altered to pick up HD? Perhaps it needs switching from horizontal to vertical polarisation (or vice versa?). If so, can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive local TV engineer, please?

David Cromwell: According to DUK no engineering work is taking place at the Rowridge transmitter and as such there isn't any reason why you should not be receiving an HD signal, therefore in order to double check that your TV is indeed fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner this can be checked out if you supply the model number of the device in question.

Thank you, jb38.
It's an LED TV made by LG
Model number: 32LN5400
A phone call to the LG helpline had already confirmed it is "fully HD" and should be able to receive Freeview HD channels.
Best wishes, David

David Cromwell: Apologies for the delay in replying, the reason for being that although I do have the manual for this set its unfortunately up to the standard of most LG manuals, insomuch of being totally ambiguous to the extent that it doesn't positively state that it can receive DVB-T2 transmissions, and although the LG customer service department may well have said that its fully HD capable this does not necessarily mean that its fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner which is necessary for HD reception, the term "fully HD" generally meaning that a device is capable of displaying a full HD image via an external device when coupled into its HDMI input sockets.
The other point being, that by the set being a discontinued model it makes it somewhat difficult to get bang up to date information, but going by the various comments made by people who own this model would strongly suggest that its simply a standard Freeview set and not one capable of receiving UK HD transmissions, this being backed up by what you have reported.
I will though make further enquiries.

jamie stevens: Re your posting of Saturday 23 November 2013 4:46PM about COM7 and COM8 only being broadcast using HP: You really couldn't have this up!
What a total and utter shambles. Common sense told us that since switchover, aerials were better vertically polarised. Now some will find that they will either have to change back and others will have to decide whether they want COM7/8 *or* COM4/5/6.
The same question can apply to the Local Southampton multiplex, which according to Digital UK Coverage Checker, is only going to be HP.

David Cromwell: The page for it on the LG website desribes it as "Freeview" rather than "Freeview HD":

David Cromwell : If you open the link provided by Dave Lindsay then click on "view all 60 reviews" the review made on October 8th by user name: "snitch" on the bottom of page 12 confirms that this model is not fitted with a DVB-T2 HD tuner, the reviewer admitting to having made an incorrect assumption about the meaning of full HD and with LG having said that a Freeview HD box would be required for reception of HD programmes.
