Richard: The bearing is 232 degrees.

However, in order to use a compass you need to take into account the fact that Magnetic North and True North are different. The former varies over time and by location.

Richard: To add to that said by Dave Linsay, you can find out the bearing of any transmitter that is considered to be within range by clicking on "Digital UK tradeview " seen on the six choice box on the right hand side of your posting.

Hello,

I am in Reading

Hannington Transmitter reports all OK.

However the new BBC HD channels are low power or not transmitting when they should be on air.

All the other HD channels and SD show 100% signal 100% quality - so it not an inversion problem.

What is going on ?

Surely this IS a transmitting problem at Hannington ??

When will they increase the power on these new HD channels.

Martin : This is incorrect. The new HD multiplex which carries the additional BBC HD services is not due to go on air from Hannington until some time next year. The power of the signal, according to Digital UK, will be 29.5kW. The power of the PSBs is 50kW and the COMs are at 25kW.

I cannot tune the channels on Hannington C32. When I try a manual C32 scan, it shows Signal Strenth 66% but quality 0%. No channels are found.
C39 also has 66% strength, but 100% quality/.
So what's going on with C32?

If you want to concentrate on a single channel, it's BBC Four HD that I miss most.

Incidentally, this affects both my Panasonic TX-L24C5B and my SONY KDL-40HX803 (on different antennas)

Steve Swift: Re: C32, as this transmitter is not due to go into service until around March next year then you are presently viewing a test transmission, therefore continuity of reception cannot be guaranteed as the signal could vanish at any time dependant on the nature of the engineering work being carried out.

Thanks, jb38
I'd looked all over for clues as to the problem. Just didn't see that "from March 2014"...
