We dont have a Freeview box just digital TV's. We have had freeview on all our TVs until the last few days. We can reset our small TV, which now has its Freeview channels but our two large SAMSUNG tv's do not appear to have a Freeview reset!!!!!!! We recently disconnected from cable tv but can still get channels 1 to 5 if the box is turned on. Does this mean that our TV's have suddenly lost their compatibility with Freeview? What can we do to get the channels back? 8th February 2015

Louise: It would be of considerable assistance if the model numbers of the Samsungs were known, but though the main thing is that "if" you still have the cable box connected into the TV via a jumper lead, completely remove it followed by switching the TV off for about 10 seconds before switching it on again and checking if anything has changed.

However, minus the model number info, have a look in the set up menu and make sure "air" then "aerial" is selected as the signal source, as I feel that it will still be set on cable thereby cutting out the Freeview tuner.

Bert: Any Freeview TV or box that can still view CBS Action on EPG70 requires retuning, as CBS Action moved to EPG64 on the 19th of this month.

As your posting has been made under the Whitehawk Hill heading, should you reside in the area covered by this transmitter and your TV or box has a "manual" tuning facility, select this then enter and scan C48 and this should correct the problem, CBS Action being being transmitted on Whitehawk Hills COM6 transmitter.

J. Thanks for responding

If CBSAction has moved to 64, then how can people receive the programmes on say 70?

Why can some receive the signals on 90?

I know someon who can recieve CBSAction of 90, but no signal on 64

The numbers being given are Logical Channel Numbers (LCNs) and not the frequency channels previously used as nowadays each transmitted signal frequency carries several different programmes at the same time. Hence the need to refer to LCNs rather than particular frequencies. The numbers you are quoting are the LCNs being used by some people - though they should all appear on the same LCN unless the TV has not been retuned recently. The channel number being referred to for Whitehawk Hill the service in question is shown correctly as Channel 48 which is on 690 MHz which carries the COM6 group of programmes, as stated by jb38 in his submission. Other transmitters may have COM6 on different frequencies.

Steve: Both CBS Action (LCN64) and the Horror channel (LCN70) are broadcast on COM6, which on the Whitehawk Hill transmitter is C48.

By the way, March 13th is indicated as the starting date for the Horror Channel.

Steve: Well, according to UK DTT's latest update on March 9th (link for below) they are being broadcast on Whitehawk Hills COM6 / C48.

Maybe the reason for them not being seen under the above mentioned COM6 is simply down to Briantist not having managed any time to update the list? as Vintage TV (242) is still under COM5 rather than COM4.

The question is, are you able to view any other programmes on Whitehawk's COM6 such as 4Music (18) or yesterday (19)?, if though you can, then have you tried "resetting" the TV or box prior to carrying out a retune? the resetting procedure also known as "manufacturers reset" / "default setting" / "first time installation" or similar name.
