Why did Sutton Coldfield do a channel update this week - I lost all my scheduled recordings because of this - and I'I'm not the only person around here who had this happen.

bob barfoot: Further to MikeP's reply - If you are receiving Big Centre TV (the newly launched local TV channel for Birmingham and the Black Country) then you can ONLY be receiving C51 UHF from Sutton Coldfield or Brierly Hill as those are the only two transmitters broadcasting that channel (on channel 8 of your EPG).

Neil: Can you be a bit more specific as to what you mean by "having trouble" with the channels on C33 - i.e. total loss of picture, picture and/sound breakup etc. and is it on all of the C33 (COM7) channels or just one or two?

Sorry Mark, I use a Quad Tuner DVB-T2 PCI card in my PC to act as a DVR distribution around the house, tried different tuner software, Argus TV on Windows and TVHeadEnd on Linux but for the last week or two when I try to scan in 570Mhz I get no channels found at all.

All the other multiplexes are fine. And I did manage to get the channels on 570MHz about a month ago when I rescanned.

I suppose it might be a problem here. I was wondering about interference from a network card I put in as I've read that COM7 is particularly susceptible to that sort of thing, but before I pull the thing apart I just wanted to check there was no problems network side.

Dear UK Free TV Help,
I'm unable to receive Big Centre TV on Channel 8 in Lichfield (WS136NS) despite retuning (new installation following 'channel wipe') and having modern receivers a good aerial and generally excellent signal.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bob.

Bob Langley: Bob you are out of range and in completely the wrong direction to receive Big Centre TV I'm afraid. Although it is transmitting from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter it is (like all of the local TV stations) broadcasting a directional signal - in this case towards Birmingham. It is also broadcast on a pretty low strength signal (10,000 watts whereas a lot of the other Multiplexs that carry the TV channels are at 200,000 watts).
