Having retuned CBSAction is now on ch64 and Horror on 70.I only retuned to get HorrorThese logical channels (64 and 70) made me think.If I was not interested in the Horror channel, would there have been any point in re-tuning?Does it matter if, say, CBSAction is on logical channel 90 or 64, the actual channel is still 48?Any idea why they are called logical channels? They are in fact the buttons on the handset.

Steve: They are referred to as "logical" channel numbers so as to differentiate from "UHF" channel numbers. A UHF channel is a broadcast channel, with equivalent frequency in MHz. Thus, "services" assume their logical channel number positions, which as you say are buttons on the remote -- they are not "transmitted" on those "channels", this being why they are often referred to as "services" rather than "channels".

Is there a problem with the transmissions from Whitehawk Hill? I can receive pictures but there is no sound. I retuned Freeview but this did not fix the problem. Your help would be appreciated.

Mary: If you are viewing Freeview on a TV and "not" via a box, then try carrying out a "reset" on the TV followed by a retune, reset also being known as "default setting" or "first time installation" etc. If though on the other hand you are using a box? then check that the scart or HDMI lead coupling the box into the TV is firmly inserted into their respective sockets.
Should the aforementioned fail to resolve the problem, then carry out a manufacturers reset on the box.

jb38: Thank you for your advice. I had already done this and it did not rectify things, However, a few hours later, everything was back to normal, so I don't know what caused the loss of sound as both the tv and surround sound system are in good order!

Mary: Thanks for the update on the situation, insomuch that your audio drop out problem would seem to have vanished, although the reason for it happening in the first place is a bit of a mystery, as no faults were listed against the Whitehawk Hill transmitter.
That said, irrespective of how official the fault reporting sites might appear to be they are not by any means 100% accurate, as its not necessarily the case that every little event is reported.
Although, only time will tell as to whether or not the audio defect was caused by a problem on the transmission side of the equation, or possibly by something associated with your receiving equipment, however irrespective of cause, the main thing is that the problem no longer exists.

My reception of the Whitehawk Hill Ch. 60 MUX has been much degraded since Friday 10th March. My location is 1 mile line of sight to the transmitter, however there is a mobile phone mast between the aerial and the transmitter.
at800 have confirmed that this is most likely 4G interference.... "There is a new 4G mobile site transmitting very close to your location", hopefully the filter being sent to me will help.

Paul Brown: You are just one 1 mile from the transmitter! Either your signal strength is massive (check), or there is a severe problem with your aerial system. Whilst it could be 4G, if you fit the filter and nothing changes, its likely to be one of the other problems.

Paul Brown: 4G services operating in the 800MHz band are channels 61 upwards, so C60 is the closest meaning that if any are to be affected we would expect that one to be.

Received a filter from at800 today and it has completely solved the interference problem on the Ch60 mux channels.
@ Mike B... I was 100% sure that it was 4G interference as the mobile mast is about 600 metres from my property and is directly between the aerial and the transmitter!
The service from at800 was surprisingly professional and prompt.
