Repeated re-tuning has failed to find this new channel. Is there some reason for this?

Robert Boulton: Caradon Hill is indicated on DUK's reception predictor as providing a first class signal in the postal code area mentioned, talking pictures (81) being broadcast on C31 by Caradon's COM7 HD Mux.

Others programmes broadcast by COM7 HD being : (106) BBC Four HD / (58) Viva / (71) Motors.

It should though be appreciated that these programmes can only be received on TV's or boxes capable of receiving HD broadcasts, that is equipment fitted with DVB-T2 tuners.

jb38: Yep - as the channels FAQ says:

'In order to receive Talking Pictures TV on Freeview, you will need to be within coverage and be watching on a Freeview HD television or Freeview HD recorder'.

Robert Boulton:

I understand that it is broadcast on an HD mulitplex, so you will need a DVB-T2 equipped TV or box. If your equipment is 'HD Ready' it is unlikely to have such a tuner fitted. That can be overcome by using an external box that does have a DVB-T2 tuner fitted.

Currently have a loft aerial receiving from Plympton transmitter.
I wish to change to the Caradon Hill transmitter, (with a loft aerial).
Can I just redirect existing aerial, or do I need a new aerial, if so, which type?

M. Smith:

No. You will need a different aerial unless you already have a wide band or a log-periodic type. Plympton transmits in Group A whereas Caradon Hill is in Group C/D - so totally different frequencies and so need a different aerial to receive Caradon Hill. The aerial has to be set horizontal for Caradon but vertical for Plympton - and in a different direction. Look at the 'digitaluk trade' box beneath your posting to see the details.

I receive BT Vision TV. From my home in Callington, I can see the Caradon Transmitter. At this time of year every year for the past 3 years, I have very poor or no signal for all channels listed in the com4 group from Caradon. For example, ITV3, Drama, 5USA. I have tried to retune several times and re-set everything and have now lost all of these channels due to zero strength signal. Can anyone please help, or pinpoint the cause of these problems. From memory the same thing has happened every year, getting worse from mid-late December through until late January. Thank you in advance for any help / advice you may be able to offer.

hi .are all the hd channels running on full power .after setting up my aerial i am getting data errors on a few of the new hd channels & am unable to receive a good signal on them even after tweaking the aerial to obtain the best signal .all other channels seem ok.problem appears to be on the newer hd channels.

TERRY: As no faults are listed against the Caradon Hill transmitter, nor are any engineering works taking place at same, I feel that your problem is more inclined to be down to the fact of receiving signals from lower powered transmitters via a line of sight obstruction. The newer HD channels referred to, namely COM7 & COM,8 only radiating on 10.5Kw and 2.5Kw respectively compared to PSB3 (HD) on 100Kw.

By the way, the line of sight obstruction referred to can be seen by opening the undermentioned link.
