kim: No one else has reported any problems with Rowridge on this website, are these local reports of problems? I'm not sure what you mean about digital being secretive?

Hi
Please can anyone tell me if there are any problems receiving COM7, (BBC News HD, Al Jazeera English HD and RT HD) In Portsmouth PO1?
This website suggests it should be ok but Freeview.co.uk suggest you cant receive those channels.
Thank you for your help.

Dan:
To be able to assist we need a full post code, PO1 is not accurate enough as it covers such a wide area.

kim: I like you live in Eastleigh and am not having any problems with COM4 or the other Muxes.
If you're not receiving it but are getting everything else it sounds like a re-tune of your tv/box might get you fully running.
Hope it helps.

Dan:
Before you try to retune, you must check all your aerial connections first. They must be clean and tight with no chance of slipping out.
You should also check the signal strength reported by your TV set (the User Manual will tell you how to do that on your particular TV) and then report them back to us. The reason for this check is that having too strong signal often appears as you describe.
Let us know how things are after all that and without doing any retuning (that is a last resort and is likely to cause a loss of more channels!

MikeP:
Sorry if I've confused you.
We don't have an installation yet but am planning one in the next few months. So it will be brand new by a good company.
What i'm trying to work out is if we should receive COM7 or not. This website suggests it is being broadcast from Rowridge at 24KW but when you type the postcode into freeview.co.uk it HD channels on COM7 do not appear.
We are on the waters edge in Portsmouth so don't have any obstructions between us and Rowridge. Does anyone else in Portsmouth receive COM7 and more specifically BBC News HD, Al Jazeera English HD and RT HD?
Thanks

Dan:
If you click on the 'digitaluk trade' link at the bottom of your post, or try Coverage Checker - Detailed View yiu will see that your post code should get COM7 easily despite the lower power than the 'main' services. It is on the horizontally polarised service but is not on the vertically polarised service. So any new aerial should be set for horizontal reception to get these channels.
Hope that helps?

kim: served: Rowridge, area: Eastleigh, Hants: 9 January, and the channels 'which said no video' (10,20,21,26,etc) from Com4 are all back. I did nothing.
Many thanks for the quick response to my query. I only mention secretive, as there are no announcements that something (eg atmospheric conditions) may be affecting some reception areas.. it just seems, they die - and we wait in hope, till they come back.
