We need your full post code to be entered into this website so that we can see what the signal reception conditions are like at your precise location.
I also use the Mendip transmitter and know there are no problems either reported or actual.

Rachel brunsdon: Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so we can see your predicted signal strength and where you are in relation to the transmitter etc.

Rachel Brunsdon:
We use Mendip as our main Freeview source and there are no problems with the transmissions. So I concur with StevensOnln1 that you should carefully check all the aerial connections right from the aerial to the back of your TV set.

MikeP:
There have been recent problems in my area (North Cadbury, Somerset BA22) with drop outs in HD. This may be related to the new channel changes. A total retune seems to have cured the problem.
However WARNING: I receive regions West (Mendip), South West and Wales. Most TVs will ask which region you want in cases like this. I found that many channels were missing after retune, and these needed manual retuning.

Indeed a retune should resolve any reception difficulties in this instance. That you have several transmitter options available means that you have to be careful to ensure it tunes to the Mendip transmitter if you want HTV West, BBC 1 West, etc.
Whilst you are checking the channels the TV has tuned to, check that the signal strengths aree between 60% and 85%. Either less or more will give you picture breakup and sound problems.

Graham: As you've posted on the Mendip page, presumably you are talking about receiving ITV Central HD on Freeview. This is because ITV currently only transmit four of their regions in HD on Freeview in England (London, Meridian, Central and Granada). More ITV HD regions are available on satellite, but as ITV HD is broadcast on Freeview capacity belonging to the BBC, we probably won't see any further ITV HD regions being made available via Freeview until the BBC are in a position to start broadcasting regional versions of BBC One HD (both are broadcast on the PSB3 multiplex which is owned/operated by the BBC).

No COM7 or COM8 (UHF chs 33 and 35) at the moment (~3am), are they off at night time for engineering work? COM7 was fine earlier today. I see that they will disappear at the end of March this year, perhaps that is related. Other muxes e.g. the man HD mux (ch58) are fine.
