I am experiencing sporadic pixellation on all HD channels from the Dover transmitter (Channel 53). The TV set is under one year old and reception is shown as 100% signal, 100% quality. It was excellent until about late October/early November. Early this year I purchased a Freeview Play recorder and discovered that the HD pictures from this box are perfect, both live and recorded despite the aerial lead being longer and of lower quality to the one to the TV. The aerial is a loft mounted electronic device, the downlead is inside the building feeding through a surge protector, a VHF/UHF splitter, and a 4 way distribution amplifier.

Among other resets and trials I have fitted an attenuator to the TV lead in case signal is too high, I have tried fitting a G4 filter in the feed before the splitter, I have retuned several times and manually tuned the HD channel, I have swapped the feeds from the amplifier, and I have fitted a new spike/surge filter to the mains feed. All to no avail. The software on the TV is up-to-date.

In view of the fact that there are no problems with the Freeview Recorder it would seem that the TV is faulty. Is there anything else I can do to prove it?

Robert August: 100% signal strength is too high and is effectively deafening the tuner. Does your amplifier have a variable gain control? If it does, try turning it down a bit. Where are you fitting the 4G filter? It needs to be before the amplifier, otherwise any unwanted 4G signals will be amplified along with the wanted signals. Retuning will never fix a problem with signal strength being too high or too low as the TV is already correctly tuned and all you are doing is deleting all your channels and searching for them again. Your PVR may have a less sensitive tuner than your TV and may be better coping with the high signal strength.

Is there. Problem with channel C59 ? All the channels on that Multiplex. Seem to be running low power as the channels constantly breakup.

i have a humax fvp-5000t, i live on canvey island essex ss8 7rn my arial is quite new and is on the roof, My unit was bought on the 14th Jan 2018 so its new, i asked for the manual channel numbers from Humax as the signal is stronger from Kent than London, iwas given these numbers

channel 23 26 25 22 and 28 (channel 25 nothing comes up)

hd channels 30 33 and 35 (channels 33 and 35 nothing comes up)
So is my unit faulty, and what should i be getting on the channles 25 33 and 35

Right got all the manual channels set up for the Kent bluebell hill , i live in essex ss8 7rn all channels work and record except bbc 4 tried to record a show earlier but when it had finished it came up as failed recording so what is the problem with bbc4 ? humax fvp-5000t2, what channel number is bbc4 on as doing a maual channel search if to many channels are found they dont all come up in the left box, Also can i put in both the london crystal palace manual channels and the bluebell hill or would that cause a conflict ?

Before i put just the bluebell manual channels in i did get a full working bbc4, does anyone know what the channel number is for crystal palace which has bbc4 on it. Thank you all for your help

peter rance: BBC Four is on the PSB1 multiplex (UHF 46 from Bluebell Hill & UHF 23 from Crystal Palace). BBC Four HD is on COM8 (UHF 34 from Bluebell Hill & UHF 35 from Crystal Palace). If your aerial is pointed at Bluebell Hill then it will be around 60 degrees away from the direction of Crystal Palace, which is likely to result in weaker signal strength if you attempt to tune in muxes from CP.

On one tv I have to manual input as receive Sudbury not Dover. I'm at CT 5. Channel 55 is giving no input. My otherv2 TVs on an auto search revive all from Dover. Have pulledvaerial. Cleared all channels and inputted only way. Can achieve from 5 is to manually input for south east then automatic to receive from 55. Thus then puts my bbc1 etc on 800

Please advise
