I think the information about channels and multiplexes (Whitehawk Hill above) is in real need of updating. As of March 2018 there have been major changes. Channels 48 and 56 are no longer in use and two new channels, 32 and 33 are now being used.

I am viewing from Seaford, BN25 2JH, picking up Newhaven and Whitehawk.

In the last day or so we have not been able to find COM4, usual automatic retuning. That seems to have happened since it moved to Channel 33. The other channels are pick up OK.

Is this just a Seaford problem, or is it more widespread?

Many thanks Bob Higham, you have my eternal gratitude for publishing the channel change information relating to Whitehawk Hill.
Having lost the Sky News Channel I spent the best part of an afternoon trying to locate this information including contacting Freeview themselves who were unable to help.
As Bob says, these changes are temporary so it would be very useful to know where this information can be found, ideally before the changes take place. Can anybody help?

Just following up my previous post I have heard the same story from a friend in Shoreham, COM4 missing and not picked up on a retune.

Chris Gasgoine: I believe com4 is SDN and com6 is ARQ B.

If you click on the "digitaluk trade" link below Bob Higham's post, you will find that SDN is on UHF 32 and ARQ B is on UHF 33.

The 14 Mar 18 Retune event and future Retune events as well as Reception changes appropriate to his postcode will be found there.

You can enter your own postcode near the top of the page.

I have been advised that many aerials were designed for higher channels and will be less effective on lower ones such as 33. Also some were fitted with filters to reject channels below 40.

David Hitchin & Chris Gasgoine: If you're having trouble receiving COM4 & COM6 from Whitehawk Hill following the frequency changes, you should contact the Freeview Advice Line (see link below) who can arrange for a new wideband aerial to be fitted (free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable).

Hi being in the aerial business for last thirty years, we have been fitting wide band aerials as standard for at least last 10 years, many customers did not have regional tuners in their TVs so high pass filters were used to reject signals from the Isle of Wight, these will now need to be removed !

I have contacted the Freeview Advice Line. The adviser that I spoke to was completely unaware of this issue. I ran through the nonsense of removing the aerial, retuning and then reconnecting it again, and they eventually asked me to remove the filter (I'm now unable to get to the loft to do this) and they said that they will get back to me.

A few months ago there was an issue with the Newhaven transmitter broadcasting the wrong local news channel for a few days, and it was almost impossible to get them to recognise that there was a transmitter problem.

The curious thing, then and now, was that there must have been thousands of people affected but I seemed to be the only one to contact the Freeview Advice Line and persist in saying "It's not my television and I'm not tuned to the wrong channel". Then and now I hear many people complaining, but no one does anything.

I am amazed that when Freeview decided to make these changes they didn't realise how many people along the coastal strip had filters to block the Isle of Wight channels, and that moving COM4 and COM6 to lower frequencies was going to cause problems for them.
