R Thompson: If you read through earlier posts on this blog, you will find a full explanation of why you have lost these channels, and some possible ways of regaining them. But to anyone thinking of spending much of their own money replacing their aerials in order to receive muxes Com 7 and Com 8 on uhf channels 55 and 56, I would point out that the move of these multiplexes to these channels is only a temporary reprieve, to allow those stations currently using them to make alternative arrangements, and that the intention is to switch off these multiplexes permanently in 2020, leaving the 700 Mhz band entirely free for mobile telephony.
That's all very well for some of the minor stations, but what about BBC News HD and BBC4 HD, funded by the state broadcaster? Does anyone know how the BBC is intending to make these important stations available in HD after 2020?

Malcolm Dixon,
a very good point and it's the reason i've decided to do nothing until there's some firm info where these frequency's are going to re-allocated (if at all)

Michael/Malcolm Dixon:

COMs 7 & 8 are predicted to be changed sometime between 2020 ans 2022 so it is worthwhile having your aerial system updated.

If you do not have satellite or cable then you may qualify for a free aerial change. Visit Important changes to Freeview TV signals | Freeview and look in the FAQ section.

I have lost the Com7 and Com8 signals on my Samsung 55 inch KS7000TV. I have re-tuned but have no channels from either multiplex. I note that others have reported the same problem. What is the cause of this?

Best regards

Phil Collins

Philip Collins: If you're receiving Crystal Palace, the most likely explanation is that you have a Group A aerial which is not designed to receive the higher frequencies that COM7 & COM8 are now using. If you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a free replacement wideband aerial fitted, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

paul Wood: Like Paul I would like to know when ukfree.tv will show the new channel details following the chnages made to the Crystal Palace transmitter on 21 March 18.

In particular, I would like to know what the power levels are for the com7 and com8 muxs on channels 55 and 56.

My PVR is showing zero signal strength on channels 55 and 56. This could be because I have a band A aerial (I don't know) or it could be because the power levels on Ch 55 & 56 are lower than they used to be on Ch 33 & 35.

Curiously, my PVR says that there is still quite a strong signal on Ch 35. Is this because it is being used for a different mux now, perhaps one of the 200kW ones? Hence my desire to see the updated details on this website!
