The symbol shows the location of the Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) transmitter which serves 620,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) mast?

Thanks StevensOnln1, before reading your post, I contacted freeview and they are sending out an engineer on the 21st. I presume he/she will come equipped with a wideband aerial to fit if required, although no mention of free aerial updgrade was mentioned when I booked the appointment.

I have a problem with yesterday's COM7 retune at Rowridge. COM7 disappeared from channel 31 and has failed to re-appear on channel 55. The problem is common to two different TVs. The aerial was replaced in Jan 2018 with a Labgear LHG10T, so I doubt whether this is an aerial problem and both TVs report channel 56 (COM8) with 100% Signal Quality - all the other multiplexes are fine with a similar signal quality and all with good to 100% power levels. Even the LSO on channel 37 comes in at 100% signal quality.

It seems as if channel 55 is being filtered out somewhere - although I am wondering if as we are only Hannington/Rowridge boundary in SO24, the two signals may be cancelling each other out. Although on our side of the hill, Hannington is usually much the weaker signal.

Following the advice, I phoned Freeview. Prior to the early march and most recently the 2nd May, I had everything working fine and could easily receive COM7/8. (I'm in SO40).

Having explained I'd lost most of my HD channels (4+1/BBC News/Cbeebies etc.) and a few SD ones (Vintage TV/Keep it Country), I was told that decisions by government have meant that the power has been "dialled down" on the multiplexes that deliver these channels.

When I asked if I would need a new Aerial, I was told that there is nothing I can do as these changes will affect everyone using Rowridge and we would no longer be able to receive these channels.

Has anyone managed to get any better information from Freeview?

Hi,

I'm in a similar boat.

Whiteley and pointing to Rowridge.

The earlier retune to ch56 was fine, but I'm getting nothing on ch55.

My aerial was fitted 9 years ago so I assume is the wrong type, but I'm confused as to why I can get ch56 but not ch55?

For info on both my Humax HDR-T2 STBs ch56 says strength 52%, Quality 100%

Cheers,

Nick.

Observation for those who have lost channels during early May 2018: com7 and com8 are now shown as HORIZONTAL signals only (I think com8 used to be vertical as well), so if your aerial is vertically aligned you will have lost channels.
I have lost channels so am about to re-align my aerial to horizontal.

AC: COM7 & COM8 have only ever been broadcast with horizontal polarity from Rowridge, they were never vertical.

I now tried adding a masthead amp and even at various settings up to the max 26dB, there is nothing on channel 55.

Is there anyone out there who is getting COM7 from Rowridge?

Tony Whyman: I'm getting COM7 on 55 ok since Wednesday's retune. I'm from Eastleigh (about 32 miles from Rowridge.) I use a Log 36 aerial which gives me about 45 per cent strength and 100 percent quality using a Humax HD FoxT2 set top box.

26db seems awfully high gainwise, it might be worth halving that as too much gain will knock the signal out completely. Just a thought.

Good luck!

I went into my local electronic shop and quizzed the salesman about the lack com7 and com8 from Rowridge. He said that he had a very good wideband aerial and could still get the missing channels after Wednesday's retune (he lives locally). So I will report back after the engineer has been on the 21st. After all, it makes no sense to send out engineers if they (Freeview) know that there is no hope of receiving those channels.

i also lost COM7 & COM8 channels, retuning didn't help so must have Group A aerial which is not designed to receive the new frequencies. I have replaced to wideband aerial All OK now.
