Peter Simpson: Thank you for the update from Panasonic (I assume you mean Fri 20th Apr?!). I'm still chasing Freeview (help@freeview.co.uk) for progress and sent another e-mail today asking for an update.

Yes I saw that post and similar ones that seem to have popped up from time to time. My guess is that there is a hardware limitation or flaw in the Panasonic firmware that is triggered by revised data being received from Freeview.
I suspect that Panasonic don't have control of this data and need to lobby someone to have it made Panasonic friendly. I suspect that this is why the problem just goes away of its own accord when whoever it is fixes the data stream. I'd be surprised if the data change had to coincide with a channel frequency change to come into effect.
No reply to my chase mail so far, I'll post here if I get anything hopeful.
I think it would be very good for everyone affected to actively lobby Panasonic about this issue, it's been a month now and the official line is that they are still "analysing the problem" - not good enough in my view!

Adding to my earlier posts I am now getting better signal quality and strength for Mux channel 33 (ArqB) with only occasional blocking for the TV channels but it is observed that the signal quality strength does vary quite a lot. Mux channel 29 (SDN) remains solid without any dips in strength.

Just checked and my Panasonic DMR HWT250 must have auto updated firmware from 1.19 to V1.21,
to rectify "Network service compatibility" and from what i can see it hasn't made a blind bit of difference.
It cannot pause live tv the banner says "no signal for operation"
Instant record now shows a solid red light giving the impression it's recording but it doesn't,
timer recording on single and series link still put the recording on permanent pause so no change there.

just spoke to Panasonic customer services,and they state the v1.21 update wasn't supposed to resolve the recording issue,but was for a different problem.

Likewise, I've just received a further mail from Panasonic support saying that they are still investigating the non-recording problem. Also that they don't have a timeline for a fix or any information that they are prepared to release as to what the cause is or what the fix is likely to be.

Signal quality on channel 33 the last couple of says very up and down but this morning is hovering between 93% and 100% which is the best it has been since the retune.

I've also now had a reply from Panasonic:
"In regards to your query, I would like to inform you that the issue you described is currently being investigated by our company. As you mentioned the problem was triggered by the changes in the Freeview signal and we are working towards a resolution, however this might take some time as the matter seems to only affect recorders that connect to the Midhurst transmitter, hence this seems to point out to a transmitter issue rather then an actual device problem. Regrettably, we do not have any troubleshooting steps to fix this currently, however I will be able to update you on the matter as soon as we have more details available."
There are some suggestions on other forums that Accurate Recording (AR) signals might be involved, with the broadcast AR signal not matching the channel identifier on the box (I'd post the link but can't find the discussion just now). Whatever, it does seem that Freeview and Panasonic are aware and trying to fix.
