Since HD content started on Beacon Hill it seems the signal power to Teignmouth decreased and where we used to be able to view without the picture breaking up this changed and the slightest change and the picture breaks up. Todays misty weather is an example case.
Sure we have a half hearted attempt at a local tv repeater but as it doesn't carry hal the channels it isn't worth bothering with. Overall digital TV is disappointment, no doubt it will only get worse and higher definition is squuezed through too. Can we sort out getting increased channels from local transmitters first please.

Phil: HD channels were introduced at every transmitter between 2010-2012, with the main HD channels being broadcast at the same power level as BBC and ITV SD channels. There is very little chance of any Freeview Lite relays having additional commercial multiplexes added as the commercial broadcasters are not prepared to pay the additional costs when it will only make their channels available to relatively few extra viewers (there are 80-90 main transmitters broadcasting 6 or more multiplexes to around 90% of UK households - to reach 98.5% coverage of the PSB multiplexes requires over 1,000 additional transmitters). If you provide a full postcode we can see what coverage is predicted at your location and may be able to offer suggestions to improve your reception.

I can no longer pick up COM8 in the TQ4 5JW area. Also PSB1 is breaking up but other frequancies are fine. Any idea why?

David:
You are just 4 km from the Beacon Hill transmitter and the Clennon Valley transmitter is right next door to you. So you either have too much signal or a problem with your aerial or cables. Start by checking the channels you are tuned to and cross reference that with the Digital UK coverage Checker at Coverage Checker - Detailed View In the detailed view mode it will show you the channels used by both transmitters.
Then check the signal strengths being shown. Ideally that should be between 60% and 85% on all channels. If they are higher than that you need to fit an attenuator, search this website for 'Too much of a good thing'
Finally, check all your aerial cables and connections, unplugging all coaxial plugs/sockets and refitting.

Terry Bannon: What do you mean by channel 60 (radio)? Are you referring to UHF channel 60 which carries the PSB1 multiplex from Beacon Hill (BBC SD channels) or do you mean LCN 60 (Sony Crime Channel +1) which is not broadcast from Beacon Hill?

20 Freeview HD TV channels to close March/June 2019 in Cornwall | free and easy
Beacon Hill will stop transmitting the channels to Torbay at the end of March, with the rest of Cornwall they will stop from 19 June 2019. These channels are on the so-called com7 and com8 multiplexes, which are being withdrawn from Cornwall. This is ahead of the rest of the UK where the licence expires May 2020.

Until recently, I was able to get a moderate quality signal from the Beacon Hill transmitter. After retuning, I now get a few channels, very low quality, on 2 of the frequencies on one of my TV sets, the other TV cannot find any channels. I have switched to the Chudleigh transmitter which means I get many fewer channels. What is happening?

John and N L Bell:
Becon Hill has been having some engineering work done recently, see the posts above yours.
Retuning was the worst thing to do. To get your services back you will need to manually tune. Put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker, select the Detailed view and scroll down to the channel listing for the prefered transmitter.
Use that information to manually tune your equipment to the correct channels.
