When will I get BBC 4 HD and the new BT Showcase HD in the TN38 0HR area as now BT showcase has moved to HD channel 115 I can no longer watch it :(

Matthew Thomas: BBC4 HD and BT Sport Showcase HD are broadcast on the COM7 & COM8 multiplexes, which are both temporary services operating from 30 main transmitters covering around 75% of households. None of these transmitters cover your postcode and there won't be any expansion of coverage as COM7 & COM8 are due to close in 2020.

We have intermittent signals from the Hastings transmitter. At the moment we have no stations at all through the TV. Although we can receive a few stations through the Humax recorder. Some days the Humax will not receive anything- some days the TV will not receive anything. Some days we have no terrestrial TV and have to watch through the internet. We constantly retune. Somedays successful. Some days without luck. It is all very frustrating.The aerial is on the chimney pointing at Hastings.

Please check all your aerial connections, looking for any damage or water ingress. Also unplug any coaxial plugs/sockets and refit.
Then check the signal strengths for all the multiplexes available.

There are unusually high levels of "Tropospheric propagation" at present, often associated with High Pressure weather systems.
These levels of propagation are unusual at this time of year - they cause signals from more distant transmitters to travel a lot further than normal. It currently affecting different parts of the country by varying degrees and signals can change by the second or remain stable for much longer periods.
In the old "analogue" days there was a lot of talk about "continental" interference often in the summer months, but the interference can come from transmitters anywhere in the UK or Europe and even further afield. At the moment some people are getting DAB radio from the Netherlands and FM Radio from France as well as the interference to DTV.
You are advised NOT to retune whilst this continues which could be for a couple more days. Many have posted elsewhere about similar problems. People will however have noticed the unusually mild weather which the Met office is referring to as a "Foehn effect" but it's not helpful that it seems none of the major broadcasters are making any reference to the interference being caused to TV and Radio reception!
If you have retuned, you may have lost correct tuning. You will have to try again and it could be hit and miss whilst these conditions continue.

on the afternoon of 12 April 2023 my televisi0on screen showed a message saying that it was receiving no signal. This continued for several hours.
On 13 April the TV was again working as normal.
Would you please tell me whether you had any transmission outages during those times>

Hello. This is an independent technical help-site but I can tell you that the transmitter isn't currently listed for any Planned Engineering and I can't find any reports of outages
HOWEVER with the weather conditions yesterday, there were many power outages and a number of smaller transmitters may have temporarily gone off-air and no doubt it'll take some time for lists of such outages to get updated, if indeed they do due to pressure of more important issues.
As you signals are back to normal, it's probably safe to assume that power-cuts were the likely cause unless you have further problems during any high winds. If so, I'd advise, immediately check with your closest neighbours if they have the same problem. If they do not, then it may be advised to get your aerial system checked out - make sure the aerial is still intact and pointing correctly and the downlead isn't flapping in the wind, etc.

I have been having reception problems with HD TV reception since 10th July 2023.
Picture stuttering and sound badly out of sync with picture.
I live in Hastings East Sussex and am about 1/2 mile from the transmitter at Horntye Park.
