I can't get BBC4 HD on my Humax PVR after retune.
Post code S35 0AU. My aerial is pointed to Emley Moor and has very good reception. It is on a tall chimney and we live at 200m above sea level. I have never had any freeview signal problems. The aerial is less than 10 years old.
I have retuned my Panasonic TV and Humax PVR.
The TV gets all channels including 56 which has BBC4 HD. Good signal strength. No problem.
My PVR gets all channels except 56, i.e. BBC4 HD. I tried retuning the PVR by removing the aerial to clear memory, and then retuning with aerial plugged back in. No joy. I don't know whether the Humax PVR is too old to receive channel 56. Clearly the aerial is adequate. Any advice?

Philip:
Your Humax PVR should have no problem getting C56!
Is your aerial a Wideband or a Group B (the latter will have a yellow bung in its end)?
If it's a Group B, you may not be getting quite enough signal for the PVR - its sensitivity may be less than your TV.
Does the aerial plug into the PVR and then a flylead from the PVR to the TV or are you using a splitter?
If using a splitter, then try swapping the outputs and/or flyleads over, it maybe a poorer output on one side of the splitter or an iffy flylead.
But before you do all that, sometimes the Humax may need its memory clearing before a retune. Try unplugging the aerial from it, then do an automatic tune which should clear the memory as no channels will be found. Plug the aerial back in and then do the automatic retune. Hopefully this will restore all the multiplexes.

Many errors on this page. Not least the fact which I have mentioned several times that earlier page links do not work. Local Mux now on channel 39 moved from 56, COM8 now on 56 moved from from 34, COM7 currently still on 32 and not due to move to 55 until 2020.

As has been mentioned many times around various pages on this site, the site owner has not been able to keep up with all the changes resulting from the 700MHz clearance. Refer to Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free where you should find up-to-date information.
The pagebar problem on the Emley_Moor pages is something that's more recent, even a direct link back to my post on this is not working !!
"Not sure what happens on this site from time to time, but one can't get back to previous pages as the links seem to get corrupted eg. at present Page 209 has the link Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) Full Freeview transmitter | free and easy and it just stays on Page 210. The corruption seems to be the _(U) after Emley_Moor.
The workaround seems to be Right Click the page number and select Copy Link Location. Paste that into the address bar and delete the _(U) from the address before pressing Return/Go."

John:
Hi John, if you happen to come reading, a happy new year to you.
Was just checking a few things out and was "prompted" to go and look at the checker for EM and Bils after spotting something on the checker for other transmitters.
Hmm, more on that in a moment.
As you know, I'd previously mentioned that you'd likely lose COM8 from Bils after 13th Nov. and COM7 next year (5th Feb.) after retunes elsewhere. I can't find any mention that I made about you also losing COMs4-6 from Bils after 12th Feb. I don't recall seeing that, the prediction may have changed or I didn't notice! You are still predicted to get PSBs1-3 from Bils with no issue.
You are still predicted to get PSBs1-3 & COMs4-6 from EM with no problem, COM8 as it is now, and COM7 OK but maybe less after 5th Feb. and 4th Mar. about the same as COM8.
But now, here is the total speculation - I'd noticed on many (all that I've looked at) coverage checker pages, where it had previously said "Final prediction 2020" it now says "Final Prediction 2025" - that's changed in the last few days! It also applies to all that I've checked with COMs 7&8 - so are we to speculate that COMs 7&8 will continue until at least 2025?
One thing we do know is that the current licence for COMs 7&8 runs until 2026 with a caveat that 2yrs notice will be given if it is to be terminated sooner. So at least they should remain until 2022 as I've not seen (can't find) any announcements from OFCOM or Arqiva to the contrary or notice being given.
For anyone reading by the way, the predictions I was talking about at the start of the post are for John's location, not everyone, so others won't be necessarily losing any reception from Bilsdale.

Philip - You don't say what model of Humax PVR it is. Has it ever received DVB-T2 muxes and fed HD signals to your TV which obviously has DVB-T2 capability? My video installation has a daisy chain of HD-PVR to non-HD PVR to Toshiba TV for the aerial signal from Emley Moor and I find that my HD-PVR(HUMAX) is more reliable than the TV for the Channel 56 frequency reception particularly when it was the Local Mux, just my observation here in Wetherby.

mike davison:
Reception of the COMs 7&8 muxes on UHF C55&C56 is very location dependent. For Philip's location reception is predicted to be very good for all multiplexes, with COM8 a miniscule fraction less than the other multiplexes, although COM7 will be similar after Feb.5th.
I did stupidly suggest he did a retune with the aerial unplugged when he'd already done it! We don't know what the outcome of the other suggestions was. I note he didn't mention any issue with the HD channels on the BBC HD mux on C41 or the other HD (or SD) channels on COM7 C55 eg. BBC News HD, 4+1 HD, 4/7 HD, RT HD.
Philip: If you can let us know how you got on, that would be good. One question I didn't ask was have you got any AT800 filters installed?
