After the final maintence to Winter Hill here in Liverpool the service has gone even worse than it was back in February, it goes from around 51 channels to 131 with still some missing and constant breakup of the picture and sound.

Having to get back into with the housing association who owns these properties again over the shared aerial responsiblilty as signal strength now fluctuates between 4% - 15% and quality stays around 45%.

Just can't afford at the moment the cost of getting a new proper one fitted to the house.

Steven Rawlinson:

Yes, it's not helpful when housing associations do not fulfil their obligations. I assume that several of you will be affected, have they all complained to the housing association? Check your rental terms and conditions if it includes the supply of TV signals then they are duty bound to sort it or are in breach of contract.

In Bolton here I can see the transmitter.
Since the retune I can't get any of the channels on C29 or C31. At best I'm getting terrible breakup, at worst nothing at all.
No issues prior to last week.

Am I right in thinking its an aerial issue ?

Phil B:

It sounds most likely that's it's an aerial issue. Before this last retune, did you used to get the BBC SD channels in their correct LCNs in the EPG ie. 1,2,9, etc or did you have to watch them at LCNs 751, 752 etc.? This would have been the case after the change in February assuming you had retuned then.
If you got them at 1,2,9 etc after a retune then, have you ever had any problems since with those prior to the 12th?
If it's an aerial issue, you may qualify for a free replacement aerial.

I'm getting perfect signal on C29 channels, but no signal or extreme breakup on C32, which makes no sense. C32 is the only group of channels we're having problems with.
And the best signals before 12/08 were BBC1 on 751.
Any clues?

Since the Freeview retune the signal strength of the new channels has been sub-par with pixellation and freezing and occasional 'no signal'. This is in Barrow in Cumbria. Has there been a deliberate reduction in signal because nothing has changed from our reception end since 12th Aug? It's like chalk and cheese.

Liz:

So from the 20th February when the first of the 700MHz clearance changes took place What is 700MHz clearance? | Freeview
you got the main BBC channels at LCNs 751, 752, etc rather than 1,2, 9. Did you not think to make enquiries at that time as to why this was, or see any publicity in the local media or press? Did it ever get a mention of the Regional BBC News NorthWest Tonight. I'm not saying it did, but it certainly ought to have done! The remaining changes were due to be done in April but were postponed due to the covid-19 situation. These were the ones that took place on the 12th August when all the remaining multiplexes that were moving were moved.
The Local multiplexes had already moved last October apart from the Manchester GI mux. Do you not get/did you get any of them with a station at LCN 7?

Basically the most likely reason is that you have an older Group C/D aerial which won't pick up these lower channels reliably. Providing you don't have satellite or cable you can get a free replacement aerial if it's your own home and aerial. For more information about the channels and changes, see my post on p204 here -

Dave:

There's been no changes in transmitter power, the recent changes at Winter Hill are as I've detailed in my reply to Liz above. This is the most likely reason for you, so the same applies.
