Hello, we seem to be getting picture disruption on the same television programme at the same point while watching our television. When we watch or record ITV's Tipping Point we experience the same slight pixilation roughly 10 or 15 minutes from the end. This picture disruption does not occur every time or every day during this programme but when it does happen it will be at the times stated above. It will last for no more than 2 seconds then the remainder of the programme will be normal. We have our aerial in the loft and is we understand a good quality type and is directed to Black Hill . For the most part we have excellent reception considering the distance from our home to the transmitter. The time of the programme in question is from 4 to 5 o' clock , so the interruption will be about 4.45 showing on the screen for a second or two. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

Kevin White: Probably something switching on or off and causing a spark. The boiler is a likely culprit.

All residents in my block of flats who rely on freeview have had no freeview channels since last wednesday, with the exception of 3 channels coming thru on UHF 51. Other addresses in street have been affected also. This happened before the storm, aerials have been checked, nothing wrong. Digital UK have not helped, online info says no engineering work in area & Blackhill has no reported problems. Losing the will to live with trying to find out why we have not had tv for last 6 days. Wonder why we pay tv licence, really I do. Sorry for rant. G3 7ER!

No Signal from Black Hill transmitter C43 & C44 for coverage in EH11 Edinburgh. Although Engineering work is necessary, doing it on a weekend is very annoying. Hope it's back to full service soon.

I'am missing various channels on my communal aerial. Is it the Council that looks after this. Some of the houses in my area are bought and some are rented from council?

It seems to be com7 that I'am missing channels from. Any ideas. The signal strength I get from the communal aerial is 100%.

GMAN73:

100% signal strength is far too high! At that level most HD capable TV sets or set top boxes with claim there is no signal as it's so strong it 'swamps' the tuner system. The idea is more like 50% to 70% for SD and HD services.

COM7 is an HD multiplex so with signals that strong you are very unlikely to get any of the channels on that multiplex. Search on this website for "too much of a good thing" and see what is generally accepted as good advice, namely reduce the signal strength with an attenuator.

A full piost code would allow us contributors to determine your reception conditions and perhaps give more advice.

Thanks MikeP,

Is the attenuator the same thing that Virgin Media put on your Superhub to reduce the Power Levels. I have a spare 4db attenuator or will I need a larger number.

My Post code is G14 0YE, I fall under the Blackhill Transmitter for Central Scotland.

I have checked my TV and this is the levels Im getting for some of the channels I checked.

BBC 1 Scot (001) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 80%
BBC 2 Scot (002) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 80%
STV (003) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 80%
BBC 1 HD (101) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 76%
BBC 2 HD (102) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 76%
Sky News (132) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 72%
E4 (28) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 80%
BBC News SD (132) - Signal Quality - 100% / Signal Level - 79%

In my back garden there is a manhole cover, which has coaxil cable in it, think this might be the cable coming from the Communal Aerial.

Thanks very much.
