John Robinson: There has been no announcement of a switchover to DVB-T2. This was proposed by the government in 2011, however Ofcom's current stance is that it is up to the broadcasters and multiplex operators to decide when they wish to switch to DVB-T2 (Arqiva have previously suggested that they would consider switching one multiplex in 2022 and the other later). There has been no announcement of what will happen to BBC Four HD or any of the channels currently carried on COM7 or COM8 (nor is there any firm date for the closure of these muxes).

Hi, these past few days Craigkelly has been acting up for us in EH3. For years now it has had close to 100% signal strength and quality with never any interference. We've noticed this week some time after 8PM that suddenly we get NO SIGNAL, and it shows below 40% strength with 0% quality. A few minutes or an hour later, it returns. Any clues? Is anyone else having trouble with this transmitter?

Jimmy Angelakos:

There is no reported problem at the transmitter and if there was a great many people would all be comoplaining. I suggest you may have a problem with your aerial system, so check all the cables and connections. Unplug all coaxial plugs and sockets and the refit them as that will clear any oxidation from the copntact surfaces (which is a well known cause of such problems as you repoirt).

MikeP: Thanks for the response, I've checked all cables, plugs and sockets in the home and there's no local issue. I'll take it up with the building factors, as it's a large block of flats with an integrated antenna system.

Jimmy Angelakos:

Unfortunately, you failed to tell us in the first instance that you are in a block of flats with a shared communal aeerial system. Check with yiur neighbours to see if they have the same problem. If they do then it is an aerial system fault that is the t=responsibility of the owners or their representatives. If they don't then the problem is within your flat.
