Update:

Our local installer suggested and tried a phased array to reject co- from the but unfortunately it didn't work.

My existing aerial system was deteriorating so I had it replaced with better aerials and diplexer and now have excellent signals on the PSB mux's from CP and as well as much better signals from the Hannington COM mux's.

Hi,

I live right beneath the tower and have recently started using Freeview after having a virgin media box for some years. However I've noticed that when there is the slightest hint of bad weather we lose quite a few freeview . I'm guessing that is not an issue as I live so close - does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this? We live in a council tower block and have recently had a communal ariel replacement as part of major building works to the flats. The council have advised that this is working correctly.

Any ideas?

Phil Murfet: Anyone living at close range under a high powered TV can experience a range of problems caused by the umbrella effect of being screened from the main beam of the , and so the next time this happens remove the connector from the TV or box and replace it with a short length of bell wire or similar (about 4 feet or so) pushed into the aerial socket (the middle cup section) and check the results.

You could even try this at any time for a .

I use Freview from the and on HD I experiece the TV screen going black for a second but not when watching normal Freeview .The strength is showing very good 95%. Has anyone experienced this and cured it?

Mike Batchelor: have a look at the page on 'too strong a ' - 95% is far too high (75-85% are far better), and a look at your signal would probably show it boucing up and down. Since HD tend to get effected first, thats why your HD channels are blanking out.

Just follow the instructions on the Freeview signals: too much of a good thing is bad for you | Digital switchover | ukfree.tv - 10 years of independent, free digital TV advice page - attenuators are pretty cheap, although obviously the first step is to switch off/bypass any boosters, etc. (PE12QN)

MikeB Thank you for your reply . I have checked the and it is bouncing about a little . I am using a signal amp because I share the with another TV which has HD tuner and the HD are okay . I will try reducing the signal strength and also try without the amp . I will post the results .

If you have no satellite signal, see Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'
