Mike Cushman: Your just 5km from the transmitter - try taking the aerial lead out of the wall, and see if the cable alone will act as an aerial. If your not getting all the muxes, then there is a fault on your system.

Mike Cushman: At such close proximity to the transmitter you are hard-pressed not to receive a signal!
Go to the manual tuning part of your TV and enter/select UHF channel 28 but do not press the button to scan/add services. Instead wait and see if it gives an indication as to strength and quality, as in such circumstances the device acts like a poor man's signal meter.

Mike Cushman: HD services are on UHF channel 30 and UHF channel 33. If there is an option for mode on the manual tuning screen -- DVB-T or DVB-T2 -- then you need to select the latter for these channels (standard definition channels are DVB-T).

As you are on a communal aerial system, it could be that a fault has developed with that. You will need to ask your immediate neighbours if they have the same problem with their Freeview services and do check that they are not talking about Sky or Freesat as they are different.
You are very close to both the Crystal Palace and Sydenham Hill transmitters so you should be able to try an 'indoor' aerial plugged into the aerial socket on the back of your TV to see if that gives any reception. There are a number available, such as at Curry's, see Layer 1 (others are available) but you do *not* want an amplified type as that would give far too strong a signal.
Please let us know what you find.

I live in Hackney and my postcode is E2 8EB. I (and everyone else in the flats where I live) had Freeview installed by Avonline a couple of years ago. However, on Sunday, I lost the London Live channel (Freeview 8) I tried retuning several times (auto and manual) at different times of day, but this hasn't solved the problem. Most other channels are still there (maybe a couple might be missing but I wouldn't know as I don't watch some channels) so it's nothing to do with my aerial not plugged in properly etc.

Miriam : If you have tried auto and manual tuning, its assumed the latter was on L-LON's Mux 29 / 538.0 Mhz?, if this is correct then try it again, but this time "stop" after having entered 29, because if any low level signal is being received, the strength and quality of the signal will appear on the indicator bars.
However, it would be prudent to ascertain if others are also unable to receive London Live, if not, then the problem is being caused by either the communal aerials distribution amplifier, or alternatively a defect on the actual communal aerial.
