David Warner:

Haven't yet found the link about the original trial yet, it was done on CBBC and Cbeebies, but it's "Channel List Management" or CLM.

Over the past week or two I've had reception problems, mostly evening, on some channels. ITV,Sky News C4. Typical service companies always try and blame the home owner with lists of how to retune your TV. I got so irritated I rang Freeview to be told there was ongoing intermittent work on the Crystal Palace transmitter. I can't find any information on this on your website.

Rosita Sherrard:

There was a post immediately before yours although it wasn't the latest one which has since appeared. There's been some bugs in the site-owner's software and some of these updates haven't been appearing until a Friday instead of on a Monday, however you maybe shouldn't be seeing a continuous ongoing problem unless you live in a weaker signal area, or your aerial system has deteriorated a bit but additionally there has been some quite variable weather related Tropospheric Ducting in recent days which can affect reception because of interference being received from more distant transmitters in Europe or the UK - not all multiplexes are necessarily affected, but this isn't normally sustained for any lengthy periods, but if present especially during automatic retunes it can cause the sort of problem you've seen.

If you provide a full postcode and some details about your aerial installation, we can check your predicted reception.

Robert Warbrick: Mat:

Apart from the Planned Engineering at Crystal Palace, it could well be current weather conditions affecting you, they have been causing Tropospheric Ducting affecting much of the south coast and southern parts of the country on Saturday and now extending into the Midlands and North of the country through Sunday including East Anglia. This causes interfering signals from distant transmitters in Europe or the UK to affect reception of your wanted signals. This can periodically last, seconds, minutes and sometimes much longer - Do NOT Retune.
There is nothing you can do about this apart from wait for conditions to change, or use online streaming if available.

IF you did retune, you be best manually retuning the UHF channels for your transmitter, or you'll have to repeat try auto-retuning when signals are normal. You may have to try several times as you won't know when that would be.

The BBC have issued warnings -

Why are you regularly switching off the HD TV signal? This has been happening for some time now and I live in the Blackheath area of southeast London.

A Wilton.: Firstly, nobody on this website has anything to do with any broadcaster or transmitter company. Secondly, nobody is switching off the HD signal, certainly not on a regular basis. There is engineering work currently listed for Crystal Palace, but given that it serves nearly 5 million homes and you're the only one reporting a problem, that would suggest the problem is at your end somewhere rather than the transmitter. Start by checking for any loose or damages cables or connections behind the TV - a small fault might not make any difference most of the time as the signal is so strong, but when transmitter power is reduced during engineering work it may be enough for signal to be lost.

A Wilton.:

You may not be in a location that has the best of reception (of the HD mux).
As StevensOnln1 has said, in normal circumstances (when the transmitter isn't listed for Planned Engineering) you may not notice a problem, and don't assume that if you have a faulty connection somewhere it would affect all the multiplexes because such faults can create standing waves in the cable which will be frequency dependant.

If you provide a full postcode, we can check your predicted reception.

What sort of aerial do you have and where is it located?

A Wilton.: On the 8th of January ALL terrestrial channels except for channel 69 on my smart tv became un-watchable with drop-outs and severe pixilation. I did a retune in late 2023 and got 100% signal strength on all main channels (according to my tv) and reception was perfect in HD as well, now its only 10-20% I went on this site and read the notifications for works being conducted on Hemel Hempstead and Crystal Palace (this is what my roof aerial points at).
My aerial is a Antiference 16 bay high gain together with a Antiference Mast head Amplifier. I have checked the
signal strength at all outlets and it is good.
I notice looking at the map here regarding Crystal Palace the date of the problem only shows the current date every week.
My question :- When is Crystal Palace transmitter going back to full strength?
