Steven:
The best type of aerail these days is a log-periodic type. That will allow you to receive all the available service now and in the futurs. As StevensOnln1 says, we need a full post code to check which transmitter(s) offer the best reception at your location. With that information we can advise on what size of log-periodic aerial will provide the best solution as several are available with a different gain by design.

Is there a problem with Darvel com8 (channel 37)?
My TV picks up all 9 Darvel multiplexes but does not recognise channel 37 as a TV signal.
I have a good outdoor aerial. Postcode KA10 6TE

Murdoch MacDonald: There was engineering work carried out at Darvel overnight involving frequency changes. You will need to retune to restore any missing channels.

I am served by Darvel and did the retune today. I have lost com7 which I see is the lowest power multiplex (7.5kW) moved from channel 31 to 55. I have an xbeam plus preamp in the attic. Assume it's a group A antenna and I see from the engineering info here that a new group T antenna is required. I assume this is the problem.
But the big question is why has this not been explained to the public in advance? I know many other Transmitter areas moved to wide band antennae at the digital switch over. May be wrong but I think Darvel remained on group A.
If I want BBCnews24HD 4+1HD etc. again I'll have to get a new antenna and so will all the other people in my area that have this problem.
Tried calling the Freeview helpline and they knew nothing about this antenna group change.
Not impressed.
