Deal

We appear to have lost access to ITV3, Channel 4 and Channel 5 again. We had a new digital aerial fitted to the roof a couple of weeks ago and everything has worked perfectly then Monday we seemed to lose signal on those channels and it has not come back yet. I have just done a complete rescan and it did not find them at all so they are no longer on my channel list. Any ideas what to do to get them back?

Olivier; I managed to open your link and view the video!
The reason I mentioned Bouvigny as a possible digital dx source was because the analogue signal from there was quite a frequent summer visiter to where I live as were the FM networks. i have never received Abbeville.
I was in Broadstairs by the coast last weekend and did a retune for a friend. His set locked on D29, D34 and D37 from Boulogne and the signal was fine (the other 3 channels were blocked by sudbury).
Thanks for the link to your friends site, i had already found it last week, that's how i knew about the french digital switch over ! Brian

Mike:
Thank you for the explanation. I guess I was confused as I can see digital 'honeycombe' aerials under the main aerial at Crystal Palace but the explanation about these temporary aerials not being able to handle the digital 'power-up' now makes perfect sense.

Over the past couple of weeks mux 1 has disappeared from all our TVs for periods of time. I have checked where I can for planned engineering work but found nothing. Saturday evening (16th April) we lost mux 1 at peak time for some time, dont know how long as we gave up and watched something else.

My aerial is on the roof and normally Freeview reception is good at my postcode even though the coverage map does not include us. When mux 1 disappears all other channels are working fine. All TVs are IDTVs of various makes and I have a 6-way amplifier to distribute the signal. I just dont see how losing mux 1 can be a fault of my equipment.

I have checked out all this and I am convinced its not a problem. When we lose the mux it is a total loss on all IDTVs, they all show no signal level at all just as if the mux had stopped transmitting. We dont get a low signal level or picture/sound breakup, it is a total loss with zero signal. If I had a problem with interference from another device in the house or even close by I would expect it to affect several channels not just mux 1 which is the only one which disappears.

I've been doing some more checking and found that I am picking up mux 1 on channel 45 and not 68 as described here on the website. Can someone explain this please? If I manually search 68 I find the mux OK but a retune of the set will find it on 45.

Stuart, try connecting your set directly to your aerial, do a retune and see if it then tunes to the correct mux. Once having done this you may find the correct channel has been selected, you should then be able to reconnect to your splitter. If it works you will then have to do the same thing with each connected device that has the problem.

The strange thing is that mux 1 on channel 45 give a much better signal level and quality than the correct one on channel 68, assuming the correct data is given for this transmitter on here. Channel 45 is not scheduled to be used at all on Dover according to here, so I dont know where it is coming from. Plugging the set directly into the aerial is problematic as the amplifier is in the loft space! I could try one small TV and see what happens, unfortunately though that set does not indicate which channel is being used!
