Neil Margerison:

There are no such plans known publicly. The Idle transmitter is a relay of Emley Moor and is a 'Freeview Lite' service. What channels are transmitted from such transmitters is decided by the broadcasters on whether there is a commercial benefit to them to pay to transmit more channels. So you receive exactly what they have decided are viable for them to broadcast in that area.

Moved into Deepcar (near Sheffield) 7 years ago. Had high gain antenna plus amplifier installed and have been getting good reception until about June 2018. Then lost everything. Then it came back a couple of weeks ago but in the last few days it is not watchable. Antenna points at Emily Moor. Is there engineering work / frequency changes going on? Having spent a lot on this antenna

There are no works listed on the Digital UK website for Emley Moor. If there were problems with the transmitter it would be expected to create many more questions but there are none.

So it woulld suggest you have a problem with your system. Please could you tell us what the signal strengths are on one of the TV's and give a full post code so we can loom up the expected reception conditions for your location.

No signal on any BBC channels as of 5pm today, also lost Leeds TV, 4 Music, Yesterday, Ideal World, Home, 5Spike, QVC Beauty, CBS Action, Travel Channel, Film 4+1, 4Seven, 5Star+1, 5USA+1, True Christmas, CBS Reality+1, truTV, CBSDrama, Dave ja Vue, Talking Pictures TV, Now 80's, and all HD signals. There is a strange high pitched signal on the channels that have no or weak signal. My postcode is WF13 4AL, DEWSBURY, EMLEY MOOR TOWER. No reported faults visible

Your telly is broken.

Not only does Emley Moor supply tens of millions of viewers, plus dozens of relays, but it is also the control center for the whole network, and manned by engineers and operators 24/7. It has multiple backups and redundancy of equipment, so its near impossible for it to fail for more than a handful of seconds while a spare is switched in

Vardon Hagan:

As you are just 10 km from the Emley Moor transmitter, you may have too much signal and that is well known to cause problems such as you report. Start by checking what signal strengths are reported on your television, the User Manual will tell you how to find that feature on the Manual Tuning section - but DO NOT RETUNE. If the signal strengths are greater than about 85% then you have too much and it needs to be reduced. In that case fit an attenuator in the aerial cable using a new flylead so the weigth of the attenuator does not 'hang' on the aerial input socket of the set. You may have to try different strengths of attenuator to get the best results, but they are quite cheap.

No BBC channels from Emly Moor - all other channels fine. Went off last night and still off this morning.
Tried different tv's all the same. Retuning results in 100+ channels but all the BBC are absent ??
LN7 6RX. I know we are on the edge of the transmitter region but its the only sensible signal we can get and has worked fine for last 20 years or so.

Joseph Bowman: Emley Moor covers over 1.5 million households so if there was a fault thousands of people would be complaining, so realistically there has to be a fault or interference somewhere at your end. Retuning was the worst thing to do as you have now deleted some of your correctly tuned channels, making it harder to see when the fault has been fixed. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connection behind your TV? What signal strength and quality readings do you get on the channels which are still working? Although you are 90km away Emley Moor is one of the most powerful transmitters in the country and you are predicted to receive a good signal.
