Just found out about the channel change in Hemel:
Mux 1 690MHz -> 754MHz
Mux A 786MHz -> 850MHz
(re-tune and everything is fine - I'm almost line of sight to the transmitter).
Is there any way to subscribe just frequency/channel changes like this, for just this transmitter, so I can find out in advance ?

Bernard Hatt: There are currently just two retune days planned for your area for DSO. These are 4th April 2012 and 18th April 2012.

Earlier this year we bought two new Freeview-enabled TVs. We had them set up with a new aerial on the roof, pointed towards Hemel Hempstead, and a new powered booster in the loft. Reception was broadly acceptable, although ITV channels tended to break up on occasion.
On Wednesday the 14th September you carried out some work on the transmitter. Following this, we re-tuned our TVs. We have found, however, that the BBC channels have been adversely affected. They are now worse than the ITV channels, and on one of our TVs they are unwatchable.
Is more work scheduled to fix this, or is there anything else we can do our end?

John Macadam: The only "work" that was carried out what the change of frequencies for two multiplexes:
Hemel Hempstead BBC A is expected to temporarily move to channel 56 (at 40W ERP) some months in advance of digital switchover, but will adopt its final allocation at switchover.
Hemel Hempstead SDN is expected to temporarily move to channel 68 (at 40W ERP) some months in advance of digital switchover, but will adopt its final allocation at switchover.
These allocations will remain until switchover: Wednesday 18th April 2012.

Hi, aerial on roof, all well with all BBC digital channels until very recently. Still getting analogue but now no digital channels. Tried taking back to shipping condition of main Freeview tv (all 3 are Freeview tvs.) Tried an old Freeview box, zilch. Spoke to digitaltv help line. Advisor couldnit work out where I had been getting digital channels from! Although getting London News, it didn't look like I was tuned to main Crystal Palace - have always thought been tuned to Bedmond the relay transmitter. It's only since they messed about with this that we have lost all digital channels. Also, advisor thought maybe our aerial has moved slightly and we have lost a 'ghost' signal??!! Have tried manual tuning, get good signal strength on 44 but doesn't find any channels, some signal on 56. Any advice would be appreciated. Spoke to local aerial business who couldn't understand why we couldn't get digital if we were still getting analogue ...

Iona: If you can get analogue and not digital, then this, at your location, would be because you are using the Hemel Hempstead Town transmitter.
You should have a full Freeview service from the Hemel Hempstead (main) transmitter - can you please see Freeview reception has changed? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for things to try.

I live at 19 Monnery Road in Archway, N19 5SA. It's first time I'm buying and aerial so I'm new to all this. I plan to get a HD Freeview indoor aerial. Can someone advise where I should be pointing this aerial to?

Fabian: Digital UK suggest that the best option for you is the main Crystal Palace transmitter, which is roughly south-south-east (162°) and 16 km away.
It's very likely that your neighbours' aerials are already facing that direction.
Do be careful of aerials advertised on the Internet and in DIY stores. There is nothing 'HD' or 'Freeview' about any aerial. An aerial *might* be termed 'digital' if it has a balun, a device that better matches the properties of the aerial to the properties of the cable; cheaper aerials designed before digital started might not have had a balun, but an aerial not labelled as 'digital' might still have one.
I assume, by the way, that you're talking about a roof aerial. Indoor aerials can almost never give as good a result as a roof aerial - the elements are always under-sized, UHF signals don't travel well through walls and signals will be attenuated by having to come through neighbours' walls. A small aerial designed for a roof-top can work in a loft, but it's still advisable to put it outside if you can.

Hemel Hempstead
I've lost all analogue signal and cannot pick up a digital signal on digital tvs. This has happened in the last couple of days.
I have a loft aerial which may well be quite old but has up till now always provided a good signal, any suggestions as to the cause of the loss of signal?
