Margaret lodge: There are no faults showing for the Keighley transmitter. If the fault continues you should contact whoever is responsible for maintaining the communal aerial system and get them to investigate.

Keighley Freeview channels have changed as of 12th Feb 2020. They have changed to the channels in your chart that day they should be coming into place in March. I guess they were early!

This listings around this site aren't necessarily up-to-date. With all the transmitter changes as a result of the 700MHz clearance, the site owner has not had time to update everything. Whilst the list of channels in "change over time" table here are correct apart from "_local" which doesn't exist, the date is wrong, as are the channel numbers in the top section. Hopefully the site owner will update them at some point, but it's a laborious manual task!

BD20 0LQ No:-22. In an attempt to escape the clutches of Virgin I, 4 months ago, purchased a Humax Free view recorder which in general works well. Occasionally the picture will pixalate briefly. Normally this is not a problem but last night 24th February the picture on BBC 1 channel 001 at 18:30 (Look North) disappeared completely for over 30 minutes, ITV was OK but the signal strength was around 50/60%. The problem was the same on the recorder and the tv alone. It was a clear cold night, quite breezy. The aerial is in the loft in excess of 20 years old together with the cable which runs down outside the property. Before I commit to a new aerial are you able to say if there were any reported problems with the Keighley transmitter around this time which would have caused the problems. A full reset of the recorder recommended by Humax improved matter a while ago. Any general reception advice would be appreciated.
Regards
David Grimshaw

David Grimshaw:
If the signal strength is still showing as 50-60% (any quality or error figures?), there's a number of possibilities here. Whilst I can't find any current listings of faults for any of the transmitters you might receive (more on that in a moment), that doesn't mean one hasn't occurred. There's nothing reported at present or in the last 5 days by the BBC or Freeview.
Whilst your aerial is in the loft, it's not likely to have deteriorated, the downlead MAY be a problem being that old if it's exposed to the elements especially sunlight. A visual inspection will show if there's any cracks or missing bits of the outer insulation, but again this might NOT be the cause.
The way your post is phrased suggests you believe you are receiving the Keighley relay transmitter, the aerial rods should be vertical and it should be pointing at a bearing of 126 degrees (fractionally E of SE). In roughly the same direction (likely within the beamwidth of the aerial) there's the very low power Keighley Town relay transmitter. There's also the main Emley Moor transmitter which is still predicted to give good signals at your location even though the aerial rods should be horizontal, it may be strong enough to get weak reception on your aerial.
Retuning or resetting when signals are weak or missing whether it be faults, transmitter maintenance, or weather, etc. can result in you becoming inadvertently tuned to weaker signals from another transmitter.
Apart from checking you haven't disturbed the aerial or put or changed anything in the loft that could affect reception, the thing is to check which UHF channels you are actually tuned to by looking in the tuning sections.
I'll list the relevant UHF channels in the multiplex order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6, COM7.
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which programmes are on which multiplex. Also note only Emley Moor has COM7, Keighley Town only has the PSBs.
Keighley - C40, C43, C46, C29, C31, C37
Keighley Town - C21, C24, C27
Emley Moor - C47, C44, C41, C33, C36, C48, C55

Laura Bentley:
The BBC confirmed a fault, it should be back on air now.
From 7:21am to 9:49am on 23rd Aug 2024 BBC A Off the air due to a fault
From 7:21am to 9:49am on 23rd Aug 2024 BBC B HD Off the air due to a fault
Hope you did not retune whilst you had no signal, you cannot tune to signals that aren't there or can't be decoded. The usual result is to clear your correct tuning.
You then need to retune again when signals are normal.
