I'm confused. Recently I changed my tv aerial and started to receive signals from Mendip (before that I was tuned in to Hannington, all legit because I live on the border between these two transmitters). I did a complete retune and now get a bunch of channels with BBC1 West (etc) on channel 49, with good reception. So far so good. But your table shows (I think!) that on 31 March this year BBC1 (etc) moved to Channel 32. I get nothing at all on Channel 32. What gives, please?

Just purchased a brand new up to date TV and had a new K aerial installed and guess what from my location here in Somerset I still cannot get consistent reception of all the HD channels, it has now proved beyond doubt that digital reception on the Mendip transmitter is worse than useless in the Yeovil area. We sit on the crosswires of Mendip, Stockton Hill and Rowridge and none of them give us a decent service. If ever a place needed a relay it's here. I think it's time to pack it all in and go back to radio.

Bill McDonald: I can see that parts of Yeovil seem to be a bit of a no-go area, but obviously it depends on where you are, your postcode will enable a better prediction of likely reception.

Is it only the HD channels you are having a problem with - if so which mux? BBCB, COM7 or 8?

Another possibility you might consider, does your new TV have a built-in Satellite tuner?

A G Hearn: Is it only Sky News and Dave you are having a problem with on the ARQA/COM5 mux - ie. are you getting - Pick (11), Sony Movie Channel (32), Movies4Men (48)? If you are getting these other channels, then it's possible that retuning hasn't put all the channels in the correct location - you might find them in the 800's. In which case I would suggest a full reset - see your TV manual if need be, but the usual method is the do a full automatic scan with the aerial unplugged.
You may get some help from the Freeview reset procedure link (in the top area of the comment box here).

However there are other possible reasons and your postcode would help to look at the likely reception in your location. You may be in a difficult spot, there may be local interference, you may possibly now have too much signal.

Bill McDonald: put your postcode into the site, and it should tell you signal you should get at your location. If it's rubbish because of geography etc, just get Freesat.

Hi Folks, thanks for getting back with the information, postcode is BA22 8TX and it is the Com 7/8 channels that are a nightmare. Mike nice suggestion on Freesat, but why should I spend even more money, as far as I can see digital is a hit and miss service, I hope to God they increase the power on Com 7/8 eventually.

Bill McDonald:

I note from the Freeview Map that we can now see, that you are near to a generic mobile phone mast. It is possible that you are having interference from that mast. Contact AT800 at Contact us | Advice or general enquiries | at800 They well provide a filter free of charge to try and eliminate any problems due to 4G signals.

As for power output on COMs 7&8, there is no plan to increase the output of these multiplexes. If they are the ones giving most problems, then it may be that your aerial is not the required wideband type. If you have not had it changed in the last teo/three months then it is likely to not be a wideband type and I'd advise having it changed for a good quality one, but don't fall for the 'digital aerial' con as there is no such thing.
