Briantist, thanks for the input. Apart from the F/view receiver/PVR the only other piece of RF kit present is the television. I rescanned while the TV was switched off. The PVR seemed to capture Mux 2 but the channels are unwatchable. Mux 2 is the highest ch number of all the F/views on Midhurst, which incidentally is only 15 kM away and has been ok for 3 years until last month. The aerial is only 4.5 M up (we live in a bungalow) and the analogue channels are fuzzy/ghosting. I'm not even sure this one is a C/D so I have decided to have the aerial man in. I'll post his findings.

I'm in Southwater and get a good Freeview signal for MUX 1,2,A and B but don't get C or D (No ITV4 or Dave).
I've just bought a new TV that has built in Freeview HD, but it does not pick up any HD channels. Is this because Midhurst doesn't transmit them, or because they're on a Multiplex I can't get, or am I doing something wrong?
I've Googled for ages and not found an answer, but this site has helped a bit, so thanks for any help you can give about Freeview HD.

David: Midhurst does not yet transmit the Freeview HD mux. This is due to start at stage two of the switchover in 2012.The reason for MuxC and MuxD not being available in many parts of the Midhurst coverage area is the presence of analogue signals for ITV1 on C60 (Reigate) and C64 (Heathfield), which block reception of the digital signals.

I am getting really annoyed not being able to get dave! or any Mux c channels! i live in ashington.... 12 miles from Midhurst with NO Hills in the way! I get poor signal! We have a brand new sky receiver (and the Normal arieal on the roof has been replaced recently) Its getting annoying! Ashington is meant to get all Channels...

Kiwi:MuxC from Midhurst is transmitted on C64- which is co-channel with analogue ITV1 from Heathfield. This has the result of blocking reception of MuxC. As you say you should get all channels but to do so you would need to receive signals from Heathfield which according to the Digital UK postcode checker offers a full service on Freeview in your area.

I live in Horsham West Sussex. My postcode is RH13 6EY. I have just bought two Freeview HD TV's. The one connected to my analogue Southern aerial on my roof gets Freeview channels most of the time although non-BBC based ones are corrupted sometimes in the evening. The one connected to my analogue London aerial on my roof gets no Freeview channels at all. I don't know what transmitters are involved but I would guess Midhurst and Crystal Palace. Will the situation right itself in 2012? Is there any cheap way to get Freeview channels on my London linked TV now or should I just link it to my Southern aerial for the time being? Any comments would be appreciated!

Ian: You are predicted to only get the full Freeview service from Crystal Palace, and then only in 2012.
As you only get the regions your aerial points at, then you have two choices:
1. Wait for 2012, and direct your aerial to Crystal Palace;
2. Switch to Freesat - All about Freesat | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - you can watch any region you like on Freesat.

Well, the aerial man came and found an acceptable signal about six metres from the existing mast, so I engaged him to install a new mast and aerial. While waiting for him to come Mux 2 reappeared, but Mux B vanished. I guess it was nothing more than the signal level being just at the threshold. Anyway, back he came with a new 6-metre pole and within an hour the new aerial was up and running. All muxes are now solid, so we should be OK until March 2012; at which time I'll probably have to turn down the preamp! All's well that ends better.
