Ann: The one thing you can be confident about is the power on Multiplex 2 being increased from 2kW to 20kW will make a huge improvement for you.

Ann,
We are in the top right hand side of the yellow coverage area And about 13 km from the transmitter at RH13 0RA and lose Mux A when it rains. I too believe this is degradation of the signal quality by leaves. I am able to measure signal strength using a spectrum analyser and although the signal strength does drop it is still strong enough to be above the signal strength required by the TV and set top boxes I use.
However the signal quality is too poor for the digital decoder to decode the signal. I believe this is because of the multiple paths that the signal has to take to get through the trees, an effect known as scintillation.

I'm hoping the problem will go away after switch over but as it's not a signal strength problem I am fearful it will not. So maybe the chain saw will have to come out. Only three dozen trees to remove!

Am I alone in noticing that ITV 1+1 on Freeview 33 from Midhurst is carrying Meridian South East rather than South News? Interesting this, as I have been urging ITV and Sky for over 5 yrs to provide me(and doubtless other addresses in the Midhurst coverage area) with Meridian South on Sky Channel 103 rather than South-East, all to no avail! Can you point me in the right direction for advice please?

Andy Newark: It looks like ITV have bought the minimum possible equipment to provide the slots they have available on satellite. 6 slots, 6 Freeview services. The Meridian South-East ITV1 +1 regional service is actually broadcast throughout the Meridian and Anglia areas.

The ITV1 +1 Wales service is broadcast throughout Wales, the West and the south-west, so we're not alone.

The other services are London, Central West (so no East Midlands news), Yorkshire West and Granada. I'm not sure how Border and Tyne Tees are served.

As for Sky, they probably have you down as Meridian Sussex. ITV care more about their advertising regions than about the correct news service: see http://www.itvmedia.co.uk/assets/itvmedia/content/downloadables/itv%20meridian%20micro%202009.pdf for the advertising splits in the Meridian region. ITV's map at
ITV Local | Local Regional News & Weather - ITV
seems to put Midhurst in the 'Meridian West' news service and Heathfield in 'Meridian East'.

You can add other regional variants to the EPG using Add Channels. Follow the procedure at Add ITV 1 Regions, ITV1 Channels to Sky TV Digibox, Freesat . Some of the information is out-of-date but Meridian South is still on 10891 H according to Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat . (RG47SH)

For over a week now we have had weaker than usual signal. ITV, and the weaker channels are unwatchable, postcode RH12 5PJ, we have various recorders, all reporting poor signal. Is there a problem with the transmitter?
