Charles: Remember that Crystal Palace broadcasts horizontally and Reigate so vertically. It might be worth adjusting the aerial to point to Crystal Palace.

Thanks Dave. As I receive my broadcasts from Reigate by default which is vertical and where the signal is also strongest I will leave it as it is.

Has anyone any idea of how the Freeview muxes line-up at Reigate will end up in 2019 if 700MHz band 4G goes ahead? All the main programme channels are currently in it.

(Sorry, haven't got a crystal ball to see information which isn't published yet, and may even not have been planned!)

Mark Heselden: COM channels are already out-of-group as far as the former four-channel analogue goes, so if you receive all channels then you shouldn't be expected to have an issue if the PSBs move downwards.

There are rumours on here that the COMs might end up in the 20s and using DVB-T2, so the main thing is to move to a Freeview HD (DVB-T2) receiver.

Thanks, Dave. It's just that Crystal Palace is also strong in the area, using Band A as well, so it's going to be very crammed in the old Band A if all the muxes were kept separate. I wondered if it would be made an SFN with Crystal Palace using the same muxes frequencies. This was done with Heathfield/Tunbridge Wells.

Mark Heselden: It has been suggested by some who post on this site that the COMs might become nationwide SFNs.

And at the present time, Group A was effectively made smaller by the ring-fencing, at switchover, of 31 to 37.

Redhill

I'm having trouble recently with reception of just the BBCA multiplex, channel 60, from the Reigate transmitter. I wonder if anyone knows any reason and how long this might last.

I'm in Redhill (RH1 2DG) just below the Reigate transmitter (I can see the red light on top if I look out my upstairs windows), with a loft aerial.

Up until a week and a half ago, reception was good, but then we got a lot of interference, increasing over the weekend, but only on channel 60, the BBCA multiplex. All the other multiplex channels are good.

I tried an automatic retune and my Freeview HD box retuned this BBCA multiplex to channel 23, from the Crystal Palace transmitter, even though my aerial is vertical for Reigate and the Crystal Palace orientation appears. horizontal, and according to your coverage maps I'm not expected to receive it at all. It's not perfect, signal quality is often less than 50%, though I've tweaked my aerial direction to maximise it.

Trying to tune back to channel 60 since its signal quality seems to have got worse.

Any clues?

Regards,

GaryH
