I live about 20 mile from Oxford and have previously received a good signal from that transmitter. Unfortunately having re-tuned my tv I now receive a signal from the Sandy transmitter even though my aerial is pointing to Oxford. Worse still, my picture breaks up very regularly, especially on the higher channels. I know Sandy has a stronger signal than Oxford. would fitting a band pass filter eliminate the problem?

Martin Longmore: Does your TV have a manual tuning function? If it does, run an auto tune with the aerial unplugged to clear all the Sandy Heath channels, then run a manual tune on each of Oxford's frequencies to store those channels instead.

Mr Thompson:

Com7 and Com8 are transmitted using the DVB-T2 encoding system and that requires a TV set or STB to have a T2 tuner incorporated. Any equipment that does not have a T2 tuner will not receive these transmissions. If your equipment is not of the Freeview HD type, having a T2 tuner built-in, it will not show Com7 or Com8. If you tell us your full post code, to check reception conditions, and the make and model of your TV set (or STB) we can check whether it has a T2 tuner.

Your Freesat problem is usually due to the dish being either too small (the 'standard' 35cm one fitted by Sky is not very good at all anywhere other than Kent!) or it has moved slightly and needs repositioning or there are tall trees growing in front of it and partially blocking the signals. There is also the chance that water has crept into the downleads. So check that the dish has not moved (even a slight mis-alignment can cause the problem) and that there are no tall trees directly in front of it. Also check the condition of the cables and their connections. If your dish is the small oval type fitted by Sky's contractors then consider having it changed to a bigger one that receives the satellite signals more strongly. A 55cm dish should be better where you live providing it is correctly aimed at the satellites above East Africa. (I use a 60cm dish in West Wiltshire and don't get rain effects.)

Mr Thompson : Since its likely that your TV does have a T2 tuner, if only because Sony's with sat. tuners will always have T2 tuners as well, its either because your just in a place with a poor signal for those muxes, or you've a possible problem with your system, and those low power muxes are fading out.

Gravesend

MikeB: Hello Imy sorry i have looked over this site over and over and can't figure out if there is a fault or something has changed. I have an old setup in my bedroom just a simple portable tv and free view box which are both old so nothing fancy here although I do use it most days. Except the other day it all just went completely black and has not returned at all. It is sensing remote control only to put on stand by or on but no menus or other functions just black screen. Is this a fault or a change or just my own equipment. I think i did work out that I am the crystal palace one I am DA11 Gravesend. Thank you

Anna:

It sounds as if your equipment has failed and possibly needs to be replaced.
