prior the the switchover i received all freeview channels including HD.
Now I get 70ish channels and no HD at all signal strenth/quality is strong, but,
Ch40 shows strong signal strength but zero quality.
I think the whole switchover has been handled very, very poory in terms of HD. (theres no mention of losing it the service as as so many people seem to have done)

I've retried auto and manaul retunes with still noHD. also using a smalller aerial in xase it was a too strong signal problem, but with no difference

Have five MUX's perfectly in Rugby but CH40 HD shows nothing. Manual scan of digibox and computer DVB-T device shows no signal on CH 40 at all. No big deal but I wonder why.

Had to retune the computer (Linux + Kaffeine) using the old settings for Waltham?. SC came up scan failed. Am I right in thinking there was a major MUX/ Frequency change?.

Dave Davies: Any device used for receiving Freeview has to be fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner to be able to receive HD, not DVB-T, thats the problem with a multitude of TV's seen about that have a label stating "HD Ready", insomuch they can only show an HD quality image if connected to an external HD device, and are not not actually capable of receiving it.

keith: I would carry out a factory reset to see if that cures the problem, or take the aerial out an carry out a scan without it, this blanking out anything stored, then after re-connecting carry out a further scan to load the channels back in again.

Also if by any chance its a box you are using, then make sure that the scart connection at both ends is fully located.

I have Freeview and subscribed to ESPN and Sky Sports, I live in Worcester and have lost both channels due to the Bromsgrove Transmitter. I have read that I need a wideband aerial. I went into a TV shop and was told that an indoor wideband aerial would be no good at all(i live in a flat) and that even a new wideband aerial on the roof wouldnt probably solve the problem. I dont wish to waste money on trying to get channels back, as usual topuptv didnt have the manners to email anyone and tell them that channels would disappear. If the cost is too high I will cancel the channels asap.

My sympathies P Cairns....
It depends, what side you on, might look ugly, but can have aerial, like I do satellite dish, inside, be surprised sometimes how well it can work and how robust the signals are.
I have trouble with channel 39 most, figures, one with Sky Sports 1 and 2 on of course....

Stuck if you do not roughly face the transmitter way, on other side etc.

But if you do, worth experimenting with perhaps.
Maplins offers on at moment, log periodic one, mine was different from advertised and better still, but with an amplifier that it comes with, it might help, but again, all dependent on you being on the right facing side to the transmitter.
Hope that helps, :).

P Cairns: Just out of curiosity, when you say that you lost ESPN etc due to the Bromsgrove transmitter, where were you receiving your signal from before? as I cant quite see the connection between Bromsgrove and and you losing these programmes, unless that is you have carried out a re-scan and its Bromsgrove you have picked up.

If this is whats happened, then all you would require to do is to manually tune in the station you previously used, more than one indicating as being possible, so maybe you could mention the station previously used.
