david: Provided that the problem is not being caused by rapid fluctuations in which in many cases are being caused by factors outwith the household, then boosters will generally improve where the problem is being caused by the signal being received on the weak side.

Of course should the situation be the reverse then a can cause problems due to the signal overloading the tuner, the "misleading" results of this type of situation being that the symptoms displayed are almost identical to that of a weak signal.

You should try by passing the booster by feeding the directly into the TV and then checking the results on HD, should the situation not have improved then carry out a signal check on the HD for the purpose of observing if the quality is seen to dive downwards now and again even although the strength may appear to be reasonably constant.

david: You said that the installer added a to the downstairs TV. If there is a single for both TVs then what you have assumed to be a booster may in fact be a supply for a booster which is on the (or wherever the aerial feed goes two ways).

Removing the power supply from a booster () is likely to mean no or little coming out of it. Therefore, if it is as I have suggested, turning off the downstairs "booster" will also result in loss of signal to the upstairs TV.

The installer added the a couple of years ago whn he installed a new . At the time the set which is now upstairs and is not hd appeared OK. A year ago I had a new Samsung HD set but as U sand the is not too good. the tother old set upstairs with no booster gives a good .

I have NO service at all from my Sony DVD Recorder. This problem has only occurred tonight. Is this problem related to the works at the ? My postcode is B73 6SA

J Howell: my Sony rdrhxd also has no epg info it just crashes. No displayed either, actual tv is normal. I'm near 100 miles from you

My Sony RDRHXD970 has experienced exactly the same thing. go to epg and it is blank and not looking quite right, it starts populating, but if you select a it either is a black screen or comes on for a second or two and snaps off.
