Peter J: Good news folks. I have just turned on my Sony HXD 879 & 890. The correct epg is back & they are both working normally without me doing anything. Well done somebody!

My two are still 'updating' so no good news from me down in Devon. Fingers crossed for later.

Mine seemed locked in 'up date' again, but it just turned on with the power switch and when I checked old EPG was working again.

AlanC: If one of these Sony receivers is stuck in Update mode then press and hold the Power/Standby button on the front of the machine for about 5 seconds.

Hi J
My two are still 'locked' in update. Did you switch off the unit or did it just correct itself without doing anything to it?

Between work myself and a relative we have 3 Sony RDR HXD890's and 2 of the 3 are locked into an update and therefore no freeview - when will a solution be found?

DM: This problem was rectified for most people yesterday, the fault apparently being caused by a defect in COM5's EPG data, but to get the device out of the update mode press and hold the power / standby button on the recorder for about 5 seconds and this might effect a cure, if it doesnt then the other method "which returns the box to its factory settings" is to (on the recorder) hold down the stop button and then press the on/standby button, all settings will be reset and the box will turn off.
This will as would be expected, require you to carry out a retune to recover the channels.

Hello, my freeview channels every few minutes keep losing sound and the picture pauses for a couple of seconds, is this due to work being carried out on the digital mast, are there alot of people having the same problem, I have tried all the reset procedures etc, thanks
