WS2 8YA.
All BBC/ITV digital freeview signals very weak since I checked, and re-tuned 4 times at 5am today, showing BAD SIGNAL - strength is 4 where it was minimum 8 on most channels - is this due to the on-going engineering works?
Aerial is in Attic, Horizontal and has worked for the past 12 months, perfect up to when switch off last night at 9pm.

Vince: If you retuned at 5am when Sutton Coldfield was off the air it is possible you have stored channels for The Wrekin transmitter.

Why is it that the engineers at the Sutton Coldfield Transmitter have found it necessary to turn the transmitter off between 00:50 and 05:57 every day this week and yet cannot 'predict' this until after the event ???
Also, every night this week, BBC1 has shown a fairly good film in the late evening which is ALWAYS scheduled to finish at 01:10. Could the engineers not wait 20 minutes so that those of us who are only able to watch TV at this time could atleast see the end of the film ???????

Although in the East Midlands we receive our signal from Sutton Coldfield.
We can only receive a very fuzzy ITV 1 on terrestrial at the moment. We have had no digital signal since yesterday morning and no BBC1 or 2, channells 4 or 5 whatsoever. This has been going on for weeks with the signal being out for days on end and to be honest we are sick of it. We have been told to retune, but even that is impossible with no signal and an unreliable service with no notice or apology. Can we claim a licence fee rebate or who can we complain to.

Mr R Pierrepont: While there is ongoing engineering work, it should not prevent analogue reception. They are only supposed to reduce power by half (3 dB) if there is any reduction, though some interruptions are possible.
Given what you say, I would check for a broken or disconnected cable somewhere in the system.
The notification of engineering works has been very poor all round, at all sites. Unfortunately Digital UK only publish the information - that they are given by the transmitter owner/operator, Arqiva - a week at a time, so we really don't know how long it's going to go on for.
The TV licence is for owning a TV and therefore you are not entitled to any rebate.
